Rajai Davis + Steve Kline for Micah Hoffpaur + Neal Cotts.

Not earth shattering but, we get a 3-position, RH OF sub plus a loogy with a dirty cap. Giants get younger at 1B and bullpen.

There is the problem with it.

I looked throughout our system for players over 40 to include in the deal, but I couldn't find any.

shoot me in the face for saying it, but I really like Steve Kline.

When I went to see the cubs and Cards back in '04 (in STL), Kline was out signing autographs. No big deal as others were doing the same.

I made the comment to one of the cardinal fans that I Thought Kline was a jerk. The guy told me that he understood, but to keep in mind that it's all an act with Kline. He's genuinely a good guy.

Kline backed it up. Later, as all other players had left, Kline came back out prior to the game and signed more autographs and goofed around with the kids in the stands.

I was impressed with him.

He may well kill baby seals in his spare time, but I saw a different side of him that day.

It's funny you mention that, because I've been seal clubbing with Steve Kline before.

It's been the hip thing to do for quite some time now.

I'm just glad no one has chosen to shoot me in the face.

I forgot to mention that Kline was wearing his glove on his head (very much like the un-talented 10 year old little leaguer in left field), which made him super cool in my book.

Is this the same Steve Kline, who once wish that Mark Prior took a line drive off the head, and that he could no longer pitch in the majors? I mean no longer be a fan or Prior, but I'll never forgive Kline for wishing bodily harm on a fellow player.

well you could make an argument the franchise would have been in much better shape the past couple years if this had happened. just sayin.

I think that was part of the "act" that was previously referred to.

Yeah, that makes no sense.

You don't wish bodily harm on anybody. Prior may no longer be popular here, but as a Cub, I defended him, and people who make comments like that, should be automatically kicked out of the league. There is no defending what Kline said.
