Barring any trades this is what I would like to see:

Ward

Patterson (2B and CF) over Fuld

Cedeno

Cintron

Blanco(Unfortunately with his contract he will be the backup)

Murton

DeRosa(The starting 2B) will be the only one capable playing 3B.

1B: Lee

2B: DeRosa

3B: ARam

SS: Theriot

C: Soto

RF: Fukudome

CF: Pie

LF: Soriano

Bench: Ward(1B,LF,RF);Cedeno(2B, SS, CF);Patterson(2B, CF);Cintron(2B, SS);Murton(LF,RF);Blanco©

SP: Z, Lilly, Dempster, Hill, Lieber, Marquis

RP: Wuertz, Wood, Marmol, Howry, Eyre

Looking at the list it looks as though we have too many players able to play the infield and partially CF. We have too many starters right now and I think one will need to be moved to make room for another RP(Ascanio?)

Wouldn't we only have a 5 man bench to start the season? If there are no trades, I would imagine it looks something like this.

Ward

Blanco

Cedeno

Fontenot

Murton

If there are trades, this could all change. Or if Hendry is expecting a trade (of Cedeno, most likely), he might keep Cintron around so he doesn't sign with another team and send Fontenot to AAA.

I'd rather keep Patterson over Fontenot

How are Cedeno and Patterson doing this spring? Unless one of them earns the backup CF spot, I can't see a scenario that would keep Murton here. A deal would be made for a RH backup, and Murton would lose his roster spot (likely traded)

i know it isn't ideal, but i wouldn't be surprised to also see either cintron or cedeno occasionally spelling aramis...

food for thought anyway

Cedeno or Cintron would be the extra person inserted into the batting order to spell Aramis, but DeRosa would probably be the one playing 3rd on those days.

If the season started today the Cubs probably just go without a CF backup. in the case of an emergency, Fukudome could CF or they put whichever of Patterson/ Cedeno out there. Thus

Ward

Blanco

Murton

plus 2 from the MI group Patterson/Cedeno/Cintron/Fontenot and I'll even throw McGehee in there if they want someone that's versatile. At this point I'd guess Cintron due to experience and Cedeno due to his "ability" to play 2 positions of need: RH CF and SS.

Cintron and Cedeno have both played 3rd.

You also have 6 bench guys. Which means carrying 11 pitchers. Which won't happen.

My guess the bench is Murton (if he's not traded), Blanco, Cedeno, Ward, and Cintron.

Cedeno and Cintron sounds redundant, to me. They're the same guy. But I also realize Cedeno has no options. So, I guess I think one of them gets traded.

I'm assuming Cedeno is kept partly because they'll use him to back-up CF. As it stands, we have no one really to do that on the roster. I expect some sort of trade to rectify that before the season begins.

Cedeno has no options, but Cintron signed a minor league deal, so he can be sent to Iowa (although he may prefer to be traded).

This post sounds redundant to the previous post. :D
