Yes, there's NO chance that this was an inside joke or anything. Good thing we have you around to decipher these things for us.

Pff. Don't you have some NSBB thread to summarize and pawn off as and original thought of yours on your web journal?

Anyway, it doesn't matter if it's an inside joke or not. My friends and I have tons of inside jokes that would probably be pretty offensive if I said them to anyone else. But I don't. That's why it's an inside joke. However, it stops being an inside joke when you say it to the media. And when your inside joke smacks of racism, well, there you go.

Hooray for personal attacks!

Somewhat ironic considering the subject you're going out of your way to complain about.

Yeah you're not overreacting about this at all. Did Theriot sleep with your sister at LSU or something?

not all stereotypes are negative

lol, seriously? is this really such a great insight that you felt the need to quote yourself?

a stereotype is a stereotype is a stereotype. Saying that asians are good at math might seem like a compliment to you, but it really isn't. so no, all stereotypes are negative. if they weren't, we'd call them generalizations.

sophisticated argument you've contrived there.

It must be wonderful to think you are always right, and never wrong.

if it's wrong, I've yet to hear why.

btw, "maybe it's an inside joke" and "you're overreacting" are not explanations as to why I am wrong. It's easy to just pop out and snipe at me, it's another thing to actually explain yourself.

this is a side-track from the theriot the racist conversation we've got going, but aren't you pretty close to being a grown-up? do you really need to cry "personal attack!" every time someone calls you out on something? you think you're going to be a sportswriter or something, yet every time someone knocks your blog you go tattle tale to the mods. you do realize that when you're working the beat for the cubs in a few years, people are going to criticize you, right?

stand up for yourself once in a while.

i'm glad you're here to be offended on behalf of all ethnic groups. don't know how we'd get along without you

i'm not offended, i just think theriot's comments were stupid.

i really can't understand how someone would say that stereotyping isn't bad as long as the quality being attributed to the group is "good."

i can't see why you'd be offended if someone assumed something really good about you

Stand up for myself? How would one go about doing that on a message board? Should I respond in kind with a personal attack on him?

And what part of that was "tattling to the mods." It's pretty ironic that he made the childish personal attack and because I refused to respond in kind you are calling me immature.

Don't patronize me, of course I know people will criticize my work.

Donna Chang?

Should've talked to her; I love Chinese women.

Isn't that a little racist?

If I like their race, how can that be racist?..

Are you saying that stereotyping can't be a positive thing for some people? I would disagree.

Umm, didn't you write about a page ago that people from the south don't know any better than to say dumb things?

I bet most black men are very offended that they're stereotyped as being large in the private area.

Why are you so racist?

j/k, I was gonna post the same thing. Which means...

not all stereotypes are negative

I think the reduced PA by lower order hitters is the key here.

David Pinto at Sportingnews.com[/url]"]Lineup position PA

1 : 765

2 : 746

3 : 729

4 : 713

5 : 697

6 : 679

7 : 661

8 : 642

9 : 623

Every successive lineup slot loses, on average, 17.5 plate appearances.

So Theriot/SS moving from 2nd to 7th 'saves' ~80 PA over a season from a terrible hitter. I think it's also handy to know the 17PA/slot difference.

How dare you bring up baseball discussion in this Rants forum.

Oh, wait......

i'm not calling you immature. i'm saying you should stand up for yourself instead of whining about personal attacks to the mods.
