...with Orel Hershisher.

He mentioned it during the Indiana college bball broadcast last night. Thank god for WGN.

i thought he said that he was going to be in town doing the DePaul game but he'd be at Opening Day. I could have misheard though

Didn't he do the Arizona playoff series (like 4 months ago) and was awful?

Musburger is one of only a few classic announcers left doing college football. When I hear his voice I know it's a big game..."We're coming to you live from the horseshoe in Columbus, Ohio". Consider me a fan...

Ahh yes, that was not pleasant.

i think he's pretty good overall. he may be a big 10 homer, but he calls the game pretty well and he hardly ever "takes sides", which is a huge problem for most announcers/analysts.

I love that people think that guys like Joe Buck, etc. are expressing personal bias all the time. You do realize that the producers of the television broadcast have production meetings and instruct the announcers as to what storylines/players/teams they should be highlighting, right?

I like him as well. I think Musberger/Herbstreit is one of the best announcing tandems in any sport, aside from Dickie V and Dan Shullman.

I'm pretty sure he's doing ESPN radio coverage, not ESPN TV.

At least, that's what I heard on Waddle and Silvy on the drive into work.

His voice to me is the sound of a fall Saturday afternoon - reminds me of my college days. That said I'm really not a fan of him doing other sports.

Musberger doesn't take sides? I'm pretty sure he's still trying to get the latest scoop on where Chris Gamble will be lining up every time he does an OSU game. He's awful.

so? i bet you hate Len and Bob for being so biased for the Cubs too

Len & Bob are paid to do Cubs games, Musburger not so much

i don't find any of these national announcers nearly as biased as you guys do (with the obvious exception of Dicky V). frankly, musberger, joe buck, etc. don't bother me one bit

Len and Bob broadcast on a network that calls themselves the home of the Cubs. It's expected they're going to be biased because they are paid to follow one team.

I have no idea if Musberger is biased towards Ohio State. If he is though, that is serious because he is on a national network that is the home of NCAA football, so he shouldn't be biased to any particular team while calling a game.

I would agree with your point though that the only announcer I find to be incredibly biased is Vitale. Everyone else just bandwagon jumps for the most part.

It's not that he's biased for a particular team, but he picks "something to watch for", and he OBSESSES over it the entire game, to the detriment of the broadcast. When Gamble was at OSU he did everything but update the viewer to what flavor Gatorade Gamble was drinking. Another example was his bizarre infatuation with Steve Breaston.
