For Erick Aybar and Chone Figgins.

Just reporting what I saw, take it with a grain of salt. MLB Trade Rumors is almost always wrong, and they guy just said "source from the Cubs" and nothing more so it's probably not very credible.

I'd like to point out that the (rumor false) tacked on to the thread title is redundant given that "mlbtraderumors.com reports" is also in there.

I know that site gets put down a lot, but it's not like he's stating facts on there. It's got the word "Rumors" right in the title of the page, and most of the time everything posted comes from various sources or news articles, and a lot of the sources are beat writers in a lot of baseball cities. What is done on there is no different than from what we do on here, so...... yeah. I don't understand the relentless bashing of that site when it's no different from this transactions forum.

The site has gotten better, apparently. But you must have missed when it first went up. He'd post ridiculous crap just to get hits.

Am I the only one who noticed that Chone hit better than Aramis last year....

Were you the only one who stopped looking after batting average? Or was it the 27 points of OBP that outweighed the 137 isolated power points?

Oh, I got it... it must be Chone's .400 BABIP.

I think some variation of the phrase "offensive production at a greater rate" would be more accurate than saying he hit better. But I don't think that has much to do with this year. Anyway it was an outlier year so I'm throwing it in the trash.

No, I remember back when it started a few years back. It was trash. But now most of it is just tidbits he posts from writers across the country. I think it's funny that when a credible rumor is posted there from one of his sources, people will post it up around the net on various boards as a legit rumor, but when it's a rumor that seems a little too weird or random it's never "This must be a completely false rumor, must've gotten bad information" it's always "Why does anyone visit this site, it's the worst site ever, this guy is an idiot"

I find that humorous.

That being said, I think we all knew this trade rumor was crap, probably even him (he is a Cubs fan, after all)

Despite my man love for Aramis (see name), i've always thought we should've looked at SF when they said they would deal Lincecum (or possibly Cain) for a power bat. Don't know if his contract would've steered them away, but I could live with a lineup of with DeRosa at 3rd (assuming we could deal for Roberts), if it meant the staff was:

Zambrano

Hill

Lincecum (though he probably pitches like a 1 next year)

Lilly

Lieber

With some money opened up for FA next year.

That was always my little fantasy trade (that I think SF would consider) since Lincecum's my favorite player not on the Cubs.

I don't get it...how does the screenname "Ram my fanny" have anything to do with Aramis? Does this have anything to do with what Izturis did to him in the dugout?

his no trade clause would have steered them away.

If we're doing that trade, I'd wait until next offseason and ask them for Lincecum, Madison Bumgarner, and Nick Noonan.

Or, alternatively, I'd ask them for both Lincecum and Cain. :D
