I wonder if Darren has been fitted for his uniform yet?

Thank God we were never subjected to Darren in the dugout. Dusty would only drag him out for press conferences when the press was circling his rotting corpse.

Oh yeah, and one more for good measure:

"You can tell your uncle stuff that you could not tell your dad. That is kind of the role of an uncle. I feel very much like a father sometimes but sometimes I feel like a teammate. "

The Dodgers also have interest in Blanton.

Link.

Oakland's asking price for pitcher Joe Blanton is steep. From the Dodgers, the A's want Andre Ethier, Andy LaRoche and a prospect.

The chances of the Reds getting him for any less than Votto + one of Bailey or Cuetto are slim.

It appears the A's know they may have the last available decent starter for trade. Blanton's contract isn't bad, so the A's don't have to trade him. It looks like Beane is only letting him go if he can reload with some nice young players.

I'm probably late on the topic. But Dusty chose to face Mike Lowell instead of Lenny Harris in a tie game. I really don't know what else needs to be said about the man.

In a tie game in extra innings in the National League Championship series, no less.

Derrek Lee

2005

Fewest RBI in history for someone with 99 XBH

why?

Patterson/Neifi batting 1/2 ahead of him

Wow I completely forgot about Dusty batting Neifi 2nd...

Do you remember him hitting Rey RNez at the top?

According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, the Red Sox are among the teams interested in Joe Blanton.

The Dodgers and Reds have also been linked to Blanton, but the A's demands are said to be extremely high and a midseason deal might be more likely. The A's are also reportedly shopping Alan Embree, who could be of interest to contending teams as a situational left-hander.

Norris Hopper will be in CF. Freel will be at 3B.

Now THAT would piss me off. They way Narron jerked Edwin around was crazy.

SI's Jon Heyman believes the Reds are the favorites to land Joe Blanton from Oakland.

Heyman doesn't think the Dodgers, Red Sox or Yankees are serious about making bids for the 27-year-old right-hander. It's assumed the A's want either Homer Bailey or Johnny Cueto and more from Cincinnati for Blanton. Adding Joey Votto with either pitcher would be too high of a price to pay.

Heyman is partially correct. Adding Votto with either pitcher would "be too high of price to pay, that part is correct, but starting off a package with bailey or cuerto, is an insanely high price to pay for a AL Version of Jaso Marquis.

Blanton is better than Marquis. But yeah, that would still be paying too much.
