Over ten years ago, a Texas High School flamethrower named Josh Beckett pitched for the semi-pro Reno Astros (then in Houston) in the 1997 Grand Forks International Tournament. Beckett was on loan from another Texas team for the tourney.

 

In the tournament, Reno played a Japanese National Team and Kosuke Fukudome was a member of that squad. Let’s watch Josh Beckett pitch to Kosuke Fukudome …

Beckett said he was squeezed on a few of those pitches? Which ones? Looked like he was struggling to find the plate.

What I found funny was Josh Beckett (and the Reno Astros) thought Fukudome was arrogant, and yet Josh Beckett showed up to the tourney wearing a Leatherman's Jacket with the word "Phenom" on it? Man, talk about the pot calling the kettle black (or whoever that sayign goes).

 

But it was a pretty solid video of their first encounters.

I love this. We get what, 3 inter-league series outside of Chicago, and we don't play the Red Sox or Yankee's, so we're basically cheating.

Our schedule does look pretty good, but still...
