Is this the only time we see this Patriots team? They have a lot of possible retirements, and both Moss and Samuel are free agents. They are complete cap experts and have a high draft pick, but I think it's going to be hard for them not to get worse this offseason. Samuel is almost certainly gone. Moss is gone unless he's willing to sign a team-friendly deal just to stick around, which is possible but would be so unlike most of Moss's career (and him changing his contract this past offseason doesn't really count, he was desperate to get out of Oakland).

The funny thing is I still like a lot of individuals on this Patriots team. I've always been able to respect players like Brady, Faulk, Welker, Bruschi, Vrabel, etc. It's too bad they have so many of the absolute most classless people in the league to balance those out (Belichick and Rodney Harrison being the two worst examples, and Wilfork and Moss being 2 more. When Moss is only the 4th worst player on your team as far as character, you know you have problems :D).

i think free agents would be thrilled to fill in for the retired players

Brady and Bruschi have talked as much trash this season as anyone in the league this year.

Are people going to stop making fun of Eli now?

Next season will tell if this is just the greatest run of his life or his transformation into one of the great quarterbacks in the NFL. I think it's going to be more of the latter though. His decision making has improved so much from even earlier this season. I doubt he'll make it on to the Manning/Brady level, but I do think he'll be on or very close to the next level down next year.

It is sort of funny Re:Tiki Barber too.

Bradshaw just said that the last drive Eli had was the things that legends are built around and that he was incredible.

Truffle already summarized that last drive pretty well.

The Patriots are unbeatable. No one will beat them this year. It's impossible. They will beat the Giants 40-10.

This isn't as good a feeling as last year's Super Bowl, but it's the next best thing.

=; Let's not talk about last year's Super Bowl. Thanks.

Free agents that are as good as Bruschi or Harrison (or even Seau) are likely to cost a lot more than those 3. It will be hard for N.E. to get quality people to fit under the cap if those 3 retire. Maybe they'll be able to pick up a good free agent for one of those spots, but not all 3.

Sorry, I really didn't meant to rub salt in wounds (I know Colts fans are ostensibly guests on this board). I was just trying to describe how happy I am.

probably, which is too bad, because he's not good.

He's not?

23 TDs to 20 INTs and a QB rating in the low 70s says he's not.

Yeah, and I sort of agree with raw's point that Brady and Bruschi have talked a lot of trash. They're certainly almost all very arrogant to the point of absurdity. That doesn't bother me as much as hitting people after the whistle and trying to hurt people like Harrison and Wilfork do on a routine basis. Belichick I think it's pretty obvious why I think he's classless. So while I wouldn't put up any of the Patriots as role models, the ones on my first list just haven't done enough to warrant me not liking them, while the ones on the second list have done that and more.

Granted, his numbers aren't great, but having a team that led the league in drops doesn't help.

vomit.

he overthrew burress on what should've been a big play down the sideline. that pass down the right side was a few inches from being picked off. the wounded duck to tyree was an awful pass that happened to settle into the right place. i think he threw another ball high down the middle early in the drive that was dangerous.

they put up his stats, and yeah they were excellent, but he completed a number of easy passes, got lucky on another big one, took a bad sack, and thew several risky passes that he was lucky to not have picked off. this wasn't elway's 98 yard drive, it was a quarterback playing average football and getting very fortunate. let's not go overboard (which unfortunately is going to happen)

and to be fair to manning, whom i don't like at all, he looked like a completely different qb in the last 5 or 6 games. We'll see if the transformation carries over to next year (for my sake, I hope not.)

The play where he evaded the entire defensive line and then connected with Tyree was amazing. The best I have ever witnessed in light of the circumstances.

Eli Manning probably made his bones just by getting to this game, but I think his performance deserves to be mentioned along with the greatest in SB history. He was better in this game than Brady was against the Rams in his first SB.

His taunting players during games which were clearly out of reach. When you score a TD to make the score 52-7 you should hand the ball to the ref. You certainly shouldn't spike it in the defender's face. He's not a cheapshot artist like Harrison, WIlfork or Seymour, but he's displayed little class.

Can you just say "I hate Eli Manning" and leave it at that?
