I never mentioned him at Wrigley, which I think he'd be an above avg. regular in CF there. He's a good fit regardless of park, obviously he'd benefit somewhere like Coors more than Wrigley.

Someone mentioned he's overrated, I don't know those parameters but he's going to be a good major leaguer.

Wrigley will cut down on his triples (short gaps). Wrigley will cut down on his doubles (short gaps). Wrigley will cut down on his singles (high grass). The usual increase in HR power production won't benefit him as much because his game isn't built around flyballs. His speed benefit ratio would decrease due to the park tradeoff. He's just not a good fit. Not to mention outfield defense isn't as useful in the park.

It's kind of off topic, but do we know that the infield grass will be grown long again, now that the entire surface has been replaced?

I hadn't heard either way.

we're talking about trading for him. how wrigley affects him has to factor into it. the fact that most of wrigleys effects him will hurt him more than others will make him a better fit elsewhere. its like greene in san diego or a lefty instead of a righty at enron.

Well, the OP's intent was to flip him off to Baltimore, not keep him.

And i'm sticking to my guns on the overrated thing Ping. He's reportedly the main piece in a deal for the best pitcher in the MLB, and there's a good chance he puts up .290/.360 with some putrid slugging. Even with the steals and defense, I just think it's wrong that some teams (IMO) tend to see him as a little more valuable than what he really will be. His OBP at AAA wasn't anything holy, and it's not like he was extremely young for the league or anything either.

To Balt. he was being discussed to, I was talking about him in general.

That doesn't mean he's overrated, look at the offers from the Mets and Yankees, they're not including anyone better. The Yankees wouldn't even include Kennedy. I think it's stupid to base value on internet trade rumours that haven't even happened.

He's going to be a guy that gets on base and scores runs, of course, he'll have to be driven in given his lack of power but he'll do well at the top.

umm philip hughes anyone? or does he not count because he's off the deal now or something? (i havent kept up with the rumors on Santana).

According to sources, he's been pulled off the table.
