But Texas Tech has to take the cake for biggest joke schedule of the year: Eastern Washington, @ Nevada, Southern Methodist, and UMass.

Penn State tried to beat that, as their original OOC was Coastal Carolina, Syracuse, Temple and someone like LA Tech. They swapped that last game for Oregon St., but it's still a total joke. A year or two ago their OOC had 3 of the bottom 5 teams in 1-A from the previous year

i blame syracuse for being a joke.

Blame Robinson for not knowing what direction he wants to go in. Plus, we've had way too many injuries for the lack of talent we have.

According to THIS random website, USC's SoS is only #6

I'm not sure how they calculate Georgia's SoS, but it looks as if the non-D1 opponent isn't even factored in, which should lower theirs.

The Pac-10 teams are playing some ridiculous schedules this year, though.

It's funny how a team can play Blindnun U and not be punished for it. No way is there schedule harder than USC's. The SEC has this down to a science.

they play at arizona state and then their regular rivalry of georgia tech. that is not a cupcake out of conference schedule. and the SEC is deeper in terms of top 20 teams than the pac 10.

I didn't say it was a cakewalk but I did say that the SEC knows their way around the SOS loopholes.

The Top 20 is a vote of reputation and means little on what team is better than another. There are also 12 teams in the SEC and 10 in the PAC 10 so yeah, their percentage of chance of one being in the Top 20/25 is better than the PAC 10. It's funny how people never seem to notice this in football but point it out quite quickly when it comes to basketball.

that's because the big east has 74 teams in basketball.

BE 16 teams SEC/ACC/Big12/12 Teams Big 10/11 Teams, PAC 10/ 10 Teams basketball

BE 8 teams SEC/ACC/Big 12/12 Teams Big 10/11 Teams PAC 10/10 Teams football.

Yeah Tez is going to be a beast. Its going to be like having Simeon Rice again, he can do it all. He is quick enough to cover the tight end, strong enough to rush the passer, and tough enough to be good against the run. Last year he made some really impressive plays in the open field and on special teams. Since he came into the program he's put on a good bit of muscle, and he looks like an absolute beast warrior. I'm pretty excited about him this season.

yeah, assuming health, tez could be the #1 pick in the 2010 draft. he may be the most physically giften player in the country.

I was listening to the local ESPN radio show yesterday and they were saying that the Favre situation this year is a preview of what we might see with Paterno next year. The difference, of course, is that Paterno's contract is up after this season, but I'm pretty sure he won't leave unless he wants to, no matter how bad the AD wants him gone. If the team wins 8 or 9 games, you can't really fire him either. At least I wouldnt' want to be the AD who will be known for firing a legend

Penn State is in a much worse position than the Packers. It will be sad to see it happen, but it almost should happen.

It's about 99% likely that Penn State screws the pooch on the whole thing. They'll either keep him around forever, they'll fire him (PR nightmare), or, if they get him to leave amicably, will just make an internal promotion for new head coach instead of making a splash

They need some type of under the table buyout keeping him with the university afterwards where he agrees its time to step down. Yeah its really a no win situation for Penn State at all.

They aren't going to get him with a buyout. He hasn't had or requested a raise in decades and if memory serves makes the lowest amount of any big ten coach at like 500 k. Yet despite being under paid by millions in his career (not that he cares I've seen quotes with him saying 500k is more than he needs) he has donated millions to Penn State. This guy lives a middle class life and is perfectly content with it. A buyout won't do a thing for him.

many in State College speculate that Paterno won't leave unless the school promises to make an internal hire for the next head coach. also, since PSU has been getting such a huge bargain at head coach all these years, some think they'll never break the bank to get the next Urban Meyer

Speaking of, what are the rumors like about Greg Schiano? Aside from an internal hire, is he the front-runner that everyone says he is?

Tony Sapprano said he ain't going nowhere.

I think the Jersey people are worried about this one. He just singed a new deal and already there has been a big debate about his buyout for 2009.

25% of the USC team has jock itch. What the hell is going on in the locker room.

Not enough showering. Jock itch comes from heavy sweating without good hygene.
