Soto is a freaking beast. His 2nd bomb flew right over my head last night. Even the brewer fans sitting next to me said "My god, that thing was crushed"

I <3 you geo soto.

Clemens has offered Soto a ride on his jet according to the Daily.

I'm not even sure what this is supposed to mean.

Are you making steroid allegations again?

In all honesty, there is no reason as of right now, that Soto isnt the starting catcher for the NL All Stars.

Can't disagree, but I'd rather see him get a few days of rest during the Break....

Agreed.

Considering the load he's catching right now... I'm real worried about his performance at the end of the season. I hope Lou wises up and rests him a bit more often.

when we get to road interleague games, i wouldn't mind seeing blanco do a lot of the catching while soto is the DH. that'd keep him in the lineup while not having to catch 9 innings.

how about putting blanco in every time theres a 6 run lead? the last 2 innings today would've been a little rest, i dont know fi that would really help.

If we keep scoring runs the way we have been, it probably would.

there is one HUGE reason why he won't: fans vote for starters, fans are idiots, fans will vote for LoDuca or Martin on name recognition

man, where did that ball land tonight? i know it wasn't as massive as adam dunn's bomb, but geo really destroyed that pitch from cueto.

1.115 OPS now, by the way. and his career ops is above 1.000 :D

Some dillhole in my fantasty league picked up Soto before I could. He sat at the #2 spot on that guy's roster for weeks leading up to the season. I desparatley tried to trade for Soto but this guy woudn't listen to any offers.

Then, out of the blue, a few days into the season, he drops Soto.

What an idiot.

Yes, I picked him up and have felt all warm and fuzzy inside ever since.

hahaha. soto is easily the #1 fantasy catcher to this point in the season too.

if there was any doubt that last year was a fluke, i think that has to be gone by now. no, he's probably not going to put up pujols numbers all year, but the LD%, patience and XBH power are all signs that he will be one of the better offensive catchers in the game.

We're going to be so sad when Hendry trades Soto, at the deadline, for a slumping left handed hitting veteran out fielder.

last year i could've seen that happening, but with geo raking and no viable alternative at catcher, hendry trading soto is the very low on my list of cub-related worries.

I know this is a ways in the future, but does Soto have any experience playing first? Even with his good defense at catcher, it might make sense to move him to first after D-Lee departs in order to keep his bat viable as long as possible.

He appears to have actually played a fair amount of 1B in the minors. Not a ton of time there, but enough where you could give him a first baseman's mitt and send him out there and he'd probably have a clue, at least.

I'd rather keep him at catcher and have that insane value (even if his skills diminish a bit from the wear and tear) at that position. Hitters are far easier to find at 1B.
