hines ward is a douche.

what did he do?

ran his mouth the whole game, tackled a db by the facemask (yet got a PI call on the db), and got praise heaped upon him by the announcers for no apparent reason.

reminds me of mike hart. if you just talk a lot during the game and generally act hysterical, everyone thinks you really want to win.

If San Diego loses they should be kicked out of the NFL. The Titans have a few more key injuries than they did when they almost lost to the Colt's JV. I will be so super pissed if the Titans pull off a miracle and the Patriots are able to cakewalk into the AFC championship.

Going for two was a bad decision. You never go for two unless time is an issue. Time is NOT an issue down five with over 10 minutes left. Almost every situation favored going for one: if Pitt scored again (they did) or if Jax scored again (they did). It was a poor decision. In a game featuring Jack Del Rio, I can't believe we're talking about the other coach's poor strategy.

Assuming San Diego wins tomorrow -- and as Vance said it would be an embarrassment if they didn't considering Tennessee's injuries -- Jacksonville better hope for bad weather conditions. If the weather is nice, New England will expose Jacksonville's poor pass defense. John Henderson also needs to be healthy. It would be nice if they'd play with discipline and refrain from idiocy (including Del Rio), but that likely is too much to ask. Tennessee does have a huge coaching advantage tomorrow.

Edit: Maurice Jones-Drew is awesome. Jacksonville picked him at #60. The Colts were dying to take him at #62. Ugh, so close...

Oh thank goodness that didn't happen.

am i the only person who thinks that PI call was wrong? it seemed to me that ward is the one who initiated the contact and was holding onto the defender...whatever though...as if it matters who wins this game.

I agree.

SSR, I don't disagree but it's questionable to go for 2 after the 10-yard penalty. GJ, Jaguars!

With the style Tennessee plays, I disagree that it would be an embarassment if the Chargers lose. The injuries are all on offense (Roydell and Scaife), so the defense should be fine keeping Tennessee in the game. I could easily see a 10-7 or so SD lead in the fourth, meaning just one play could decide it.

The problem will be the Titans making that big offensive play at the end. Justin Gage will be our top receiver tomorrow. Ouch.

San Diego should destroy Tennessee. The Titans just aren't that great of a team and San Diego has virtually the same team that went 14-2 a year ago. After starting the year 1-3, they've won 10 of 12. No reason that the Chargers shouldn't win by 2 touchdowns.

Except that the Titans had the Chargers beat just a few weeks ago and the defense held them to below two touchdowns for most of the game. Heading into the fourth quarter, this same Charger team playing today scored 3 points and ended up trailing by 14 in the fourth quarter.

The Titans collapsed because of youth and a bad call, but they should have won the first meeting. The Chargers should absolutely be the favorite and will likely win today, but when a defense is as good as the Titans a team will have a lot of trouble winning huge. They could blow the Titans out, but defense is far from the Titans' weakness.

Ha ha, that's what you say. I think your UCLA boy would've looked wonderful in a horseshoe.

I didn't mean to say Tennessee can't win. They have an excellent coach, SD is shaky at both QB and coach, and the Titans style should allow them to hang in. But with as poor as this collection of Chargers has been in the playoffs, losing to such a banged up team at home would be quite bad.

Ok, I misunderstood. I thought you meant the Titans didn't have a chance on the field and I just couldn't figure out how that makes sense.

If the Titans win a close game decided late, I think the Chargers will get off the hook a little. With Vince and his "clutchiness  " at QB, I think there's a decent chance the media will give the Chargers a pass. Now, if the Chargers somehow get blown out (I'd be utterly shocked), then I agree they'll get ripped.

Your misunderstanding was my poor writing. It was late; that'll be my excuse. I have a lot of respect for Tennessee/any team coached by Jeff Fischer. But if San Diego loses another home playoff game...

Yeah, and it was with 10 mins to go in the game.

Both Emmitt Smith and Tom Jackson gave the COACHING edge in the SD/Ten game to Norv Turner. I'm honestly speechless that probably the worst coach currently active could get the coaching edge over anybody, much less one of the better coaches in the league.

They cited Norv's postseason experience as why he was better than Fisher. Really? Norv has never been to the Super Bowl (Fisher has) and Fisher has plenty of playoff experience. How in the world do you give Norv Turner the edge in coaching over anybody, much less a coach like Jeff Fisher? :-k

Jackson also gave the defensive edge to the Chargers, which I completely disagree with but understand, but coaching? How?

i missed most of the game last night because of the debates, and I'll be distracted today by basketball. i just can't get into the NFL this week

This week is pretty dull. It just really sets up great match-ups mostly in the AFC next week. Assuming the Chargers win.
