Gnats

Bucs are going to shock everyone and beat the Gnats. Tiki's unloading every bit of knowledge he knows to Ronde even as we speak.

There's my bold prediction for the week. I'm prepared for the proverbial egg on my face come weekend :)

Pittsburgh/Jacksonville is one of those games where everyone is picking the road upset and the home team ends up coming out on top. I just feel it.

So my picks are

Seattle

NYG

Pittsburgh

SD

It's not a road upset. They dominated Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh 3 weeks ago. And the Jags are actually favored by 2. Steelers have way too many OL injuries, are missing their best run defender, and their DBs stink. Jacksonville could win by double digits.

I realize that they killed Pitt 3 weeks ago. My opinion is based on nothing other than a gut feeling and the fact that everyone has jumped on the Jags bandwagon and have picked them as a road team to beat the Steelers.

I'm fairly surprised how many people are picking the Giants. It's still Eli on the road in a playoff game. They are coming off a hard fought battle that they lost against the Patriots, and teams have had a tough go playing the week after losing to New England this year.

I just hope Jacksonville wins and beats up on New England in round 2. Even if they lose, I hope they hurt the Patriots.

Eli has been better on the road. I think that has a lot to do with it. For someone who wanted to play in NY, he doesn't seem like he can handle it.

He's been better on the road this regular season, but it's still Eli on the road in a playoff game. He's Rex Grossman with more playing time under his belt. And Giants are not world beaters by any stretch. They nearly gave the Bears a win. They lost to every contender they played this year, with the lone win being early against Washington.

Bears really had no business losing that game. I think the Gnats are vulnerable -- but then again, all the NFC teams are vulnerable.

Tampa fans support their team well from what I've seen. I see a rocking house down there, and I also see Garcia being able to sidestep that rush more than some other QBs.

Also, people are conveniently forgetting there's no Shockey. To me that's a factor. Of course, the fact that the Bucs generally suck on offense is also a factor.

Shockey hurts the Giant offense quite a bit, but I think they still have enough weapons (Burress, Jacobs, Bradshaw, Toomer, Smith) to beat the Bucs. They'll have to play well (especially Eli) but they can win. No matter how well they play the next week, though, I think the Shockey loss will be too much for them.

The Bucs are a solid team - nothing all that flashy but a lot of good contributors. Joey Galloway should be too old to run, but he's still a legit top receiver. Garcia's still holding up and the running game is decent even without Cadillac.

I just think the Giants (at their best) are better than the Bucs. It won't be a blowout, though.

And Willie Parker is out for the year.

roydell williams broke his ankle in practice yesterday....he was tennessee's leading receiver....not looking good for them at this point.

:(

This, coupled with Bo Scaife being out for the year, really hurts our chances of even beating San Diego. Our two best receivers are now done for the year (and I'm not 100% sure if Brandon Jones is hurt or just not performing).

I guess this is the best place to post this. Did anyone see this?

that's pretty asinine. fisher and dungy are two of the most respected coaches in the game. the colts didn't call time out because they didn't give a crap about winning the game.

if the browns wanted to make the playoffs, they should've beaten the bungles in week 16. they didn't, so too damn bad.

Or the Raiders back in Week 3.

Profootballtalk.com is reporting...

These are usually the only words that need to be read. PFT sucks, period. However, this time they're quoting Kerry Collins from an interview, so it has a little more weight than their normal "sources."

Even if the Browns file a grievance, it will mean nothing. How can one separate the Colts not caring about the game from all the other teams that had nothing to play for? The Colts had one motivation in the final minutes of that game: get off the field with no further injury. How can the league tell a team not to act in their best interest?

What a joke. The Browns didn't take care of their own business, so because of that the Colts are supposed to risk injury in a meaningless game to help the Browns out? Yeah, right.

Wouldn't Seattle play in GB in your Scenario and not Dallas?

They would. Dallas can't play Seattle until the championship. Dallas will either play Washington, Tampa, or NYG.

I am rooting to play Tampa, so there for I want Seattle and Tampa this weekend.

NE doesn't win Super Bowls by 30 points. They like to make it close.
