Two quick bits of Colts news to start off this thread for the final week of the regular season:

1) Bob Sanders was signed today to a 5 year, 37.5 million dollar deal taking him off of the free agent market.

2) Marvin Harrison will likely start Sunday night's game against the Titans. That also means Manning will play a little longer into the game (most likely sometime into the 2nd quarter), and it might mean that the Colts will want to be a little pass happy during that time.

As for this weeks game, McCarthy has said that he's going to play to win the game but has hinted that he'll probably pull the starters after the first half.

I'm ready for some revenge on Sunday!!!

Honest question since I don't follow the Bears...why do they suck this year? I mean, I can look at the Saints and say that our season was hurt dramatically because of the Deuce injury and the fact that Brees had such a flukey first 4 games (1 TD, 9 INT) compared to the rest of his season (24 TD, 7 INT). But the Bears...kinda makes me sad that last year's nemesis is doing so poorly.

Cowboys locked up Patrick Crayton to an extension last night.

Terry Glenn may play for the Cowboys.

Also, apparently Sean Payton called Tony Romo and asked him to play the whole game and help the Saints out by winning.

Their offensive line got old in a hurry. That sums up their lack of productivity on offense. You can blame them for trading Jones, but no running back would be able to succeed with that line. I can't really explain what happened to them on defense.

Without being a Bears fan, I'll take a stab at this one. There are 5 main reasons why the Bears regressed significantly:

1) The age of the offensive line was seen as a concern in the offseason, and they have been absolutely terrible for most of the year.

2) Injuries (especially on defense)

3) The defense hasn't been as dominant as last year. Part of that is because of injuries and part of that is because defense is so hard to remain dominant from year to year (Only 3 of the top 10 scoring defenses in 2006 were in the top 10 in 2007. The other 7 all clocked in at 16th or worse this season).

4) Grossman didn't progress, and taking him down for Griese or Orton hasn't helped in the least.

5) The schedule was one of the worst in the NFL last year and one of the best in the NFL this year.

I predict that the Raiders don't lose as badly as they lost last week.

1) A once-good offensive line got old really fast, starting midseason last year (the major difference between 1st half 2006 Rex and 2nd half 2006 Rex was a distinct difference in the time he had to throw). They were simply awful this year. Several times, teams would send 4 and all of them would get through. Not a strong point in the line.

2) DL injury issues with Harris, Walker, and Dusty Dvoracek, leaving them no choice but to put the 4th string DE (Idonije) in at starting DL for a while. No pressure from the front 4, and the defensive scheme simply doesn't work.

3) Starting DB combo: Tillman, Vasher, Brown, Archuleta. Brown had a career-ending injury week 1, Vasher went down for basically the year week 2 (he played for a bit in the Minny game a couple weeks ago but he's now just shut down for the year), Tillman was gone for half the year with injury, and Archuleta was simply awful from the outset. So, for half the year, they were playing 4th string Ricky Manning Jr. at starting CB, and he's only decent in nickel sets on the slot WR, played Danaiel Manning at the other CB since he was so awful at SS last year (formally known as the guy who left Reggie Wayne alone in the SB last year), and 2 rookies filled the other slots.

One of the worst pass defenses in the NFL mixed with a defensive line that couldn't get any pressure made for a bad situation all-around. Even Urlacher was limited with an "arthritic back".

I'd like to say the Bears aren't as far away as they seemed this year, but they really need improvements in both lines and healthy DBs to make the jump.

Bob Sanders is the #1 reason to legalize gay marriage. He seriously seems super-human. I'm very happy about that news.

Should I not play Donald Driver in my fantasy championship game then? I'm pretty weak at WR, but I'd rather gamble on someone who will play the entire time.

Based on what I've read, expect Romo only to play one half. Also keep in mind that TO is out for the game and so one of Romo's favorite targets won't be in the game.

I wouldn't. There's going to be plenty of action for Ruvell Martin and James Jones, but I'm certain that Driver will only play a half at most.

OK, thanks. I'm also worried about playing Deion Branch, in case he doesn't play the entire game. Other than that, it's basically Dwayne Bowe. Hmm...
