ORLANDO -- The Chicago White Sox and Cuban exile Alexei Ramírez have agreed to a four-year contract, pending a physical exam, according to a source who spoke to ESPNdeportes.com on condition of anonymity.

"Alexei got a good deal and he'll be looking for a starting roster spot during spring training with the White Sox," said the source. "He can play multiple positions, so his chances are good."

The financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Damn, I was hoping the Cubs would get him.

Didn't seem like there was a lot of action on this guy, I wonder if something the Scouts during his workout or the WBC that left a negative impression. 4 years at a little over 4 million total could be a steal for the White Sox. Low Gamble , High Reward.

That has the potential to hurt pretty bad.

I don't know many White Sox fans personally so I take with a grain of salt what they do. They're not in our division after all. It only hurts when they win the World Series or we trade someone to them who does well (Jon Garland).

Hey, the Sox finally did something.

FYI, they traded Garland for OCab a month ago. That probably registers as doing something a smidge more than signing Ramirez.

Maybe he meant something with the potential to be positive.

Well, actually, it's been such a forgetable offseason for them because they missed out on most of their targets, so naturally, I forgot they even made that trade.

Carter for Quentin too. That was a good trade.
