Fukudome press conference today

Is it actually confirmed that he's gonna wear "FUKUDOME" or is it just a screwup on the part of the Cubs?

The way the conference went and the way they've been talking about him , they make it sound like he's going to be one of the top 5 in all of baseball... I just hope alot of the bleacher bums and people that don't have alot of knowledge about baseball do not boo him at the games if he get's off to a slow start..Like Jaque..That would just be very disrespectful for a guy who comes over to the states to play for us and also from a country where respect and culture are huge...I really think boo's would hurt him mentally big time since he's not used to that and came here hearing how great our fanbase is..

We probably won't know for absolute sure until we see some official merchandise show up on Cubs.com or Muskat confirms it in one of the mailbags, but you would think that in introducing their prize free agent signing, the organization's historic first Japanese player, they would have made extra sure they got the name he wanted on the first public photo opportunity of him wearing the jersey.

You mean when he told the truth to the media? Things like being honest about being upset when the home fans boo don't exactly scream "bad attitude" to me. I doubt any of his teammates thought of him as a bad guy. I've never been bothered by such nonsense, though.

They just talked about Kosuke's signing, and had our projected lineup with Soriano at second and Murton in left.

 

They also gave Kosuke perhaps the worst photoshop treatment ive ever seen

I'm not sure if it's still up, but on their Hot Stove League on ESPN.com they had the CUbs projected lineup with Blanco as Catcher. I guess they haven't heard of GEOVANY SOTO.

I'm not sure how somebody could interpret this as pimping him as a top 5 player in the league.

He doesn't speak English, they could tell him that's a chicago cheer.

 

I don't think booing effects most players as much as we think it does. I could be wrong though.
