Just got a little tidbit on the Radio about the Gagne trade and they mentioned that Torroes might retire. I am assuming the Brewers would then lose those prospects they dealt for nothing.

Salomon Torres-R-Brewers Dec. 8 - 1:17 pm et

Salomon Torres is considering retirement in the wake of Friday's trade sending him to Milwaukee.

"It's a giant move, and I have to make a decision if I want to go forward," Torres said. "This is going to change my life, my family's life. If I leave them here, they're going to have to be without me for a full year. If I take them with me, they're going to be affected." What makes this bizarre is that Torres actually asked for a trade during last season, and now he's upset even though he was sent to a team that isn't so far away from Pittsburgh and will play three series there next year. It's unlikely that Friday's trade would be overturned if Torres does choose retirement. He said he's not close to making a decision.

Guess he really doesn't want to play in Milwaukee.

Torres has repeatedly threatened to retire if the Pirates traded him.

Why? Does he not want to play for a winning team?

Reading that blurb from Rotoworld cracks me up. Does he not realize that with the money he makes being a baseball player that he can move his family if he so desires?

Baseball is a sport where you essentially travel 8 months out of the year. I'm sorry he didn't realize that. I'm sure there's a McDonald's in Pittsburgh where he can stay close to his family.

He likes his life in Pittsburgh (irrespective of baseball) and doesn't want to uproot his family.

Salomon Torres reportedly told Brewers GM Doug Melvin on Monday that he will report to spring training.

Torres said he was considering retirement after being sent from Pittsburgh to Milwaukee. He seems to be over the shock of the trade now.
