so is Michigan going to get screwed if Missouri wins tonight? By my count, if Missouri and WVU win, that puts OSU in the Rose Bowl, and if Illinois doesn't get an at large, they'll be in the Capitol One. Wisconsin has already accepted a bid for the Outback and Penn State for the Alamo, so where does that put Michigan? Holiday?

Illinois will be getting a BCS game

undeservedly, of course. nonetheless it's not a done deal yet.

Keep up the hate, its great comedy.

The Illini will be in the top 14 now, and I doubt they get passed over for an at large. Not going to matter because when OU beats Mizzou tonight, the Illini will be playing in the Rose, while Ohio State plays for the NC.

top 14 doesn't matter, and they WOULD be an at-large.

He's right about the undeservedly thing, and I'd love to get more Big 10 teams in. Right now though, Georgia and Hawaii get in automatically, and one of Kansas or Missouri deserves to get in, and then Arizona State is probably more deserving then Illinois. Even if you don't think Arizona State, Clemson has just as good of resume as Illinois.

UCLA has 165 total yards tonight and only nine of those are rushing. Granted, Cowan has -31 and Breazell -7 but their leading rusher 17 for 48 and a 2.8 average.

~70 of those came on the scoring drive too, so UCLA did absolute crap outside of the final :35 of the first half. Not surprising, given how good USC's front 7 is, how bad UCLA's offensive line is and how few good skill players UCLA actually has.

They exceeded my expectations, though, as I had prediced a shutout.

Well like you said, outside of the final :35 of the first half, it was a shutout.

What do you mean top 14 doesnt matter? You have to be in the top 14 to get in a BCS game, and I said I doubt they would get passed over for an at large. Not really sure why you have WOULD like that.

14 teams for 10 slots. and you're making it sound like they aren't an at-large. why wouldn't your at-large get passed for another (say, Georgia or Tennesse or Hawaii or Missouri or Oklahoma or Kansas or.....)

I understand its 14 teams for 10 slots but if they Illini are outside the top 14 they arent eligible for a BCS game, so top 14 does matter.

The question is why you doubt it. Illinois doesn't have that big of a draw nationally. They aren't a lock to bring a ton of fans, and they have a questionable resume. Sure, the Rose Bowl will definitely take them if they are there, but why would any other bowl pick Illinois over Arizona State?

Assuming all the favorites win tonight, of course. I think Illinois needs 1 of 4 things to happen tonight to get an at-large bid. They need either Missouri, WV, Arizona State, or Hawaii to lose.

Because Illinois is a good storyline, and they have a history of drawing well in bowl games just look at 2001 Sugar Bowl.

i only meant top 14 doesn't guarantee anything, not that it doesn't matter if your'e out of the top 14 or not. 4 top 14 teams won't make BCS bowls, and i bet Illinois is one of them

If you read the link talking about Michigan I posted, it says the Illini will go to the Capitol One bowl if they are in the top 14 and Mizzou wins. If the bowl committee can match up FLA with the Illini its going to happen. Too good of storyline

If Illinois plays Florida, it won't be in the BCS. If they go to the Capital One Bowl, that means the BCS has already said no to them. That's exactly what Derwood and I are predicting that if the favorites win tonight Illinois is going to the Capital One against Florida and not the BCS.

Of course, the issue at hand is right now that if ASU or Hawaii loses, there may not be a choice left, and Illinois would have to go to a BCS bowl. Of course, Clemson probably sneaks into the top 14 also if either loses.

I think Clemson has already made its way into the top 14 with the losses to both B.C. and Tennessee. I do think Illinois would get picked over Clemson though, although it would be a very close decision.

right, the Capitol One Bowl is open for Illinois at this point (with Wisconsin, Michigan and Penn State already committed) which is why I don't think they make the BCS unless OSU makes the NC game. Who would play in the Big 10 slot for the Cap One instead? Hawaii?

Michigan hasn't committed yet. The Capital One Bowl is down to Illinois and Michigan. If Illinois doesn't get picked by the BCS, they'll play in that bowl and Michigan will play in the Champs Sports. If Illinois does get picked, then Michigan plays in the Capital One Bowl.
