oh man would michigan be able to force a single punt against the tebow spread offense? without carr that game would be an embarrassment.

I'd foresee something like 56-17.

Is it wrong that I look at those matchups and think to myself...hey, I think Illinois has a better chance of winning that BCS bowl than they would against Florida?

Plus, is there something in the rules that would prevent a higher-ranked Georgia team from being passed over for a BCS bowl by Florida? I seem to remember something to that effect, the Kansas State rule or something.

its just a byproduct of the two team from one conference rule and the fact they added a game on top of it. kinda dumb.

However, I do think, if the Fiesta has a choice between USC and Illinois, who are the going to take? USC more than likely. USC will be eligible and that scenario does not have two Pac 10 teams in BCS games.

the only rulings are:

A. Has won at least nine regular-season games, and

B. Is among the top 14 teams in the final BCS Standings.

If UGA gets to the SEC-C and UGA doesn't beat LSU they'll fall in the polls and they may not be ranked higher than Florida after that game. It'd be close. Keep in mind UGA is not in line for the SEC-C. It's Tennessee right now.

As an Illini fan, the best chance for Illinois to get to a BCS bowl is for UCLA to suddenly get really good and beat Oregon and USC. There will undoubtedly be an at-large SEC and Big 12 team, and the Boise State/Hawaii winner is more than likely going to leapfrog the Illini, at least in human polls enough that the BCS is affected. So, that last at-large spot is going to be between Illinois and the 2nd place Pac-10/ACC winner, given West Virginia wins the Big East.

So, cliff notes version, go UCLA.

And have Dorrell come back next year? Heck no. Enjoy winning the Big Ten next year, Illinois fans.

Gotta admit UCLA winning those two games would be par for the course in the Dorrell era. Bad enough to incite rioting among the fans, just good enough to justify keeping him on.

I'm pretty sure we'll beat Oregon now. With Dixon, Oregon would probably have blown us out by 30+. Gotta hope Dorrell is already gone.

Kansas is No. 2 in the BCS this week therefore they will lose this week.
Posted

theyre gonna lose because they're kansas not because they're number 2.

They're best opponent is a what 6-6 Okie State?

That's laughable at best. They are the most unproven #2 team in the long history unproven top ten teams

Posted
I wasn't being serious. I only said it because of the four or five teams who have already lost this year while being No. 2. I do think Kansas will lose but my reasoning was a joke.

Call me crazy, but I'm seeing UF/UI in the Sugar Bowl. And I have no clue why UM would be the 5th team chosen from the Big 10.

Oh and via illiniboard I found a pretty cool site. You can lock in face value tickets to big events(in this case BCS games) You put in your team and a select bowl or all access BCS(which locks in face value at any BCS game) You pay a fee to reserve the face value tickets. I did it for Illinois since it was just 5 bucks. Thought some of you might be interested. There is a referral program, so if any of you do register with the site, I'd appreciate the referral(I hope people realize I've been around here long enough not to just use stuff like this to get referrals) Just thought it was a cool site. If no referral, that's cool, just thought I'd throw it out there.

Might be nice to keep in mind for later events too.(NHL/NBA playoffs, NFC/AFC Championships, Super Bowl)

You can also play it like a futures market, buying the right to purchase, and re-selling later.

Sorry fellas, if Florida doesnt make the Citrus Bowl its looks like they aint gonna play Illinois.

The speculation is the Capital One bowl against Florida. The article you posted supports that speculation, it doesn't refute it.

EDIT: At this point, the only things that would prevent an Illinois/Florida matchup would be if either of them makes a BCS bowl (not out of the question if, say, Georgia makes the SEC title and and loses), or if the Capital One bowl would somehow prefer Tennessee to Florida or Wisconsin to Illinois.

Ah ok. Earlier on Sunday i saw a projection of UM/Tenn in Citrus and UI/UF in Outback. I wasnt sure how Tenn was getting the invite but i thought you guys were talking about the Outback. Historically the Citrus is the #2 BT Team and UM is the #2 in conference via the win over Illiniois, but from the article in AA news it doesnt look like UM will get the invite to the Citrus or Outback. The SI article Meph posted has UM in the Citrus with Illinois in the Fiesta, going back to the AA news article the Citrus guy didnt seem to excited about UM, Wisky will likely get that invite if Illini go to the Fiesta.

BTW Carr is coaching the bowl game, whether thats good or bad.

Fiesta would be great!

This was coming eventually. The conferences voted to say that if there weren't enough eligible at-large teams in the top 14 at the end of the year to fill all the BCS at-large spots, it would automatically expand to the top 18 to get them all filled. This rule goes into play this year.

What a bunch of idiots. Just allow three teams from one conference if there aren't enough eligible teams in the top-14 if you stick by the two per conference rule. These are supposed to be the best teams going not the top 2 from every conference.

And if Tennessee makes the SEC Championship and if they win it (two big ifs), that settles the BCS spots in my opinion. UT obviously gets one and LSU would almost definitely get the other.

So, I guess Florida fans are going to be rooting for Kentucky on Saturday. :D

But we have to be fair about things soccer. We can't be hurting people's feelings by excluding some just because others might have been a little better. [-X
