I will forever hate Dennis Dixon if his knee allowed Karl Dorrell to keep his job for one more season.

Mainly just for Raisin, cause who else would know/care. Could UCLA seriously make the Rose Bowl with the right combo of (outrageous) events next week? Mainly, UCLA and UA winning upsets?

Yeah, if UCLA beats USC and Arizona beats ASU, UCLA would go to the Rose Bowl. If UCLA loses, THEY DON'T GO TO A BOWL GAME.

That had to be the ugliest football game I've watched since Illinois at UCLA in 2003. And I only got to watch the first half.

A mediocre Clemson team just beat South Carolina.

SEC!

South Carolina is clearly one of the best SEC teams this season. That said, losing to a ranked Clemson team 23-21 is aboslute evidence that the SEC is an inferior football conference.

I don't know if you're being sarcastic about SC being one of the best SEC teams this season(quite sure of the sarcasm in the following sentence), but Meph not too long ago was laughing off people claiming SC wasn't a good team. I guess since SC beat Georgia 3 months ago, they get to keep their status as studs despite their 5 game losing streak(They're just losses after all)

And I was never calling the SEC an inferior football conference, just not the world beaters that you and Tebow4Life claim them to be.

UCLA has already clinched a bowl bid. There are 6 bowl tie-ins in the Pac-10 and UCLA can finish no worse than 6th.

I've become expert on this because Ball State may end up being the only 7-5 team that doesn't go bowling, and Dennis Dixon blowing out his knee may have been one of the culprits.

Well, it looks like either a Music City, Independence, or my fav. the Chick-fil-a bowl. The sad thing a win yesterday might've been an Outback Bowl.

Dobson, be happy you're there while they're winning. Hopefully, the basketball team could do as well as they did 10 years ago.

The ironic thing is, had Tennessee lost Saturday, we'd be looking at either the Music City Bowl or the Independence Bowl at best. Now, I see no way we fall further than the Peach Bowl with a loss - more likely the Cotton Bowl, though.

I'm curious about your feelings on Saturday's game by the way. Were you able to watch it?

SC is very similar to Arkansas, a good to very good team that doesn't have a QB. Blake Mitchell sucks and Chris Smelley is very inconsistent. They had a good running back (Corey Boyd), good receivers, decent line and a very good defense. They just didn't have a QB.

I'm not Ping, but I think UK got too cautious once they picked off Tennessee in OT. Unless I have a nails kicker, I keep looking to drive in and score the TD. Sure I may not run a high risk pass pattern, but I'm not just falling on the ball and settling for the 35 yarder.

I kind of agree on them being too cautious in the second OT. I understand the reasoning and I don't think it was a terrible decision because Seiber's a good kicker, but they probably should have been a little more agressive.

Speaking of being too cautious, I utterly despise prevent defense. For some strange reason, John Chavis (UT D-coordinator) insisted on running it during Kentucky's final scoring drive in regulation. We were having success in the first half by being aggressive and pressuring Woodson and as the second half progressed the defensive scheme got less and less agressive. Not coincedintally, UK's offense kept getting better. Prevent is worthless unless there are just a couple minutes left in the game and you're up by a couple of scores. Otherwise, go with what works.

Arizona is 6th and goes to that bowl game with a Wildcat win and a UCLA loss.

The prevent defense should never be used with that much time on the clock. I'm not using it unless there's about 30 seconds left and a team needs to go 60 yards. It's not that hard to march down throwing 12 yard routes in a short amount of time. Coaches will keep doing it though cause it's safe.

Cal is 7th and is 3-5 in conference so UCLA, at 5-3, will finish with a better record than Cal. Right now UCLA is tied for 3rd with 2 other teams and can only drop behind Arizona who is currently 6th.

SC does have some talent, but they don't have strong QB play this year as Dew has suggested. If one looks at the SEC East standings, you'll note that SC is ranked 4th or 5th just in that SEC division. Clemson is one of the better ACC teams, no? They are at least in the top half of their division, the same can't be said for SC.

My position has never been that the SEC is full of "world beaters". I've clearly stated that I believe the SEC is probably the strongest conference this year from top to bottom, and my position on that has not changed because of anything that has occurred during the last several weeks.

What is Clemson ranked these days? 16th?

Mediocre indeed. SC lost by 2 to the 16th ranked team...that's a pretty good showing. They have played 7 top 30 teams after all and their last four losses are to teams ranked #2, #16, #19, and #27 in Sagarin. So what do we take from those four losses? They're not #27. They may be #28-#119. The Vandy loss was bad though. If team say #37 losing to team #50 is bad.

Oh, whoops. For some reason, I decided to drop UCLA 2 spots down if they lost and Arizona won.

Either way, Dorrell sucks.
