Marvin did not play, or at least I didn't remember seeing him. It was Wayne, Thorpe, and some guy named Moorehead (any relation to the ex Bear player, I wonder)?

It was basically Wayne + practice squad players, and I saw a couple times Wayne pulling a Moose and re-positioning guys on the field and everything. They were playing down bare bones. My understanding is their OLine was a skeleton crew as well, and I don't recall seeing Dallas Clark either.

Plus it was raining, and Addai clearly doesn't understand either that you need to wear bigger cleats or that you can't cut normally in that kind of weather. He was slipping down regularly.

That's a lot of players out. Funny how Manning throws 5 picks with a crappy team. He's a heck of a QB but you have to have talent around you.

That's the thing about turf teams, when the elements turn bad you struggle a lot more than most teams. The Pats have a free ride if they play the Colts, especially if the weather turns bad.

The thing I would be worried about if I was the Colts is that alot of these injuries sometimes linger, because you either hold a guy out until it's fully healed or else it becomes a "nagging" injury week to week because really, what injuries are there that don't require at least 3-4 weeks to fully, fully heal?

That seems to me to be the issue. Once you get the injury bug, it's really hard to get rid of it.

And I agree, if the Colts go to the Pats and the weather is bad, it's going to be really tough for them. That defense knows what it means to play in the cold & snow, the Colts can't be ready for that especially if there are lingering injuries.

I don't know, I seem to remember the Colts beating up on the Bears in the "elements".

I'd love to see the Chargers beat the Pats in NE. But, with Turner as coach I doubt that would happen. Bellcheck (sp) could sleep through the game and out coach Turner.

What hurts the Colts too is playing in that division. They need their players there to win and as you said, if they hurt and playing this will linger and imo I don't see them winning the AFC because of that. Plus, They need home field more than any other team.

The Colts are actually built pretty well for bad weather, and, honestly, moreso than the Patriots. They run the ball better and rely less on vertical passing than the Patriots do. Funny to think, but it's true. I would worry about a speed defense in the cold or rain, but they've played very well in the elements recently.

And, historically with Manning, the Colts have actually been very good in the snow and rain. That's contrary to popular opinion, but only because of two famous struggles against the Patriots in the playoffs -- but I'd argue that was more the Pats being a superior team than the elements. The elements didn't affect the Colts last night, it was injuries, shoddy special teams play and a poor game from Manning and the backup WR's and offensive linemen.

Finally, I am NOT saying the Colts beat the Pats in the playoffs. Who knows if they'll even play? Especially since the Colts will almost certainly have to beat the Steelers to get there. But, if they do meet, the elements won't beat the Colts, though the Pats very well might.

Any of the Top AFC teams would have done that. I'm talking about trying to win the AFC more than anything.

plus i don't think the chargers are exactly used to playing in poor conditions

The Colts are fine in the conditions now. Their offense wasn't suited very well to it in 2004 and 2005, but now they have a much better running game and their short passing game is better than it ever was. Add to that a very good defense, and that's a pretty good recipe for playing in bad weather. In fact, the biggest question mark for conditions right now has to be NE. A heavy emphasis on the vertical passing game, and we'll see how their receivers do as the weather turns bad.

In response to Cuse's question about who the Colts were playing with, on offense they had Wayne, Moorehead (yes soul, he is the son of Emory Moorehead) and a practice squad player Craphonso Thorpe for receivers. Clark missed the game, and their two tackles were a practice squad tackle and a guard because all 4 of their regular tackles got hurt. Those really hurt the Colts last night (the defensive injuries didn't hurt that badly because the Colts still played well on that side of the ball even with 4 starters out).

Add all that into a poor game from Manning (only about 3 of the 6 INT's were his fault, but that's still a ton for Manning), and one of the worst special teams games of all times and the Colts still lost by 2. That game honestly didn't worry me in the slightest. The Colts have to figure out how to beat the Chiefs and Falcons with nobody healthy (which should still be possible) and then they will hopefully have most of the people back by the time the division rivals come calling.

Their style of play is more conducive to that type of weather though. Plus, they don't play on turf.

Sorry! I wish the AFC weren't so much better and maybe with Dallas and Green Bay getting better week by week the margin is closing. Sorry if the Green Bay part hurt just as much!

I agree that they are a lot better than they were. I just look at the talent NE has now and add home field and they are going to be one tough and close to impossible team to knock out of the playoffs.

Last night's game doesn't concern me at all, either. Except that they now have the same record as Pittsburgh and are only one game up on Jacksonville and Tennessee. I am, however, deathly afraid of Freeney's injury. To me, the last two weeks have been pretty encouraging (albeit also devastating emotionally). They'll win the next two weeks, then hopefully start getting some players back for Jacksonville. The schedule is much easier from here on out.

Oh, how about the play of Michael Toudouze and Clint Sessions? Both were outstanding.

Yes. He's Emery Moorehead's son. There was a fair amount of mention of that around the Super Bowl time.

Hearing Rumors that Brad Childress will rush AD back to save his job. Seriously someone step in and stop this. AD should be IR'd. Bottom line. Don't risk severe injury to the most talanted back to come around since Barry Sanders.

And the injuries just keep getting worse for the Colts. Now Freeney is supposedly going to miss the rest of the season:

Hopefully Simeon Rice can do something, but considering 2 teams have released him already this year, I'm not that optimistic.

Not good. Not good at all. I think Rice will be better in Indy, but he isn't going to come close to replacing Freeney.
