not trying to be a debbie downer, but where is this Seattle writer getting this information? Does he have some type of access that the rest of the national media doesn't?

You're right, this may not actually be news. The Cobs have been reported as the frontrunner for a while now, and this could just be the reporter phrasing that common belief in kind of an awkward way.

His imaginary friend, "Shilo".

By the way, feline AIDS is the #1 killer of domestic cats.

Should we be worried that this Seattle writer spelled his name as "Kosume Fukodome"? :-k

"Kosume Fukodome" - Japanese for "Cosmo Kramer"

"He's got the Kavorka!"

I don't know if this is where this post belongs, but since it pertains to Fukudome, kind of, this is where I'm putting it.

My sister-in-law is a student at IU. (Indiana) About a month ago, she asks me if I know who Will Carroll is and I say yeah he's a baseball guy (not wanting to bore her with the exact details because she wouldn't know the difference anyway) and she tells me he spoke in her journalism class and they talked and exchanged Facebook info.

So last night I decide to email her and see if she can get some inside info from Will about the Cubs. And I swear to you this was her reply,

He said:

Cubs are working on a Japanese OF named Fukudome.

WOW!!! Thanks for the inside info. ](*,)

Kosuke Fukudome-OF-Player Dec. 4 - 10:34 pm et

The Padres have reportedly offered Kosuke Fukudome a three-year deal.

MLB.com believes it could be worth $8 million per year. Fukudome is believed to be insisting on a three-year deal, no more and no less. The Padres would have room for both him and Luke Scott.

Is that enough to get him??? I thought he'd be getting $10MM+ per year.

I was just gonna post this. That's the right amount of years, not in terms of money though. Cubs can easily beat that.

No. It's not enough to get him. The Padres owner is usually too busy putting money in his own pocket to notice the going rate for free agents. Thus, he misses out on most everyone.

Hiroki Kuroda-S-Player Dec. 4 - 11:33 pm et

The Los Angeles Daily News believes the Dodgers, Mariners and Diamondbacks are all in the $27 million-$33 million range with three-year offers to Hiroki Kuroda.

It figures that someone will go to four years. The Mets, Royals and Cubs are also known to be interested, but the Dodgers and Mariners appear to be the favorites, in part because Kuroda would prefer to pitch on the West Coast. Reports indicate that he'll visit at least a couple of the cities before making a decision.

Wasn't their last major FA aquistion Brian Giles, who basically wanted to go there and no where else?

LOL @ them thinking 8 million will do it btw

I think your sister-in-law somehow confused Will Carroll and Wilmer Valderrama.

As I was saying......

It's actually pretty humurous listening to Padres fans thinking they are going to get all of these free agents year after year. You have to appreciate their loyalty. But yeah, Maddux and Giles wanted to be there otherwise they probably wouldn't be.
