Dang, the Jackets had a perfect chance there to pull it off.

I really think Carolina is a step below Kansas, Memphis, and UCLA. They don't guard anyone.

I agree. I think we'd kill them. The only teams that scare me are UCLA and Memphis. That's not to say those are the only teams that can beat us. I think we'll lose 1 or 2 games before the tourney. But UCLA and Memphis are the only 2 I'd love to avoid in the tourney.

I don't know if anyone can kill them because they score so damn many points. But as of right now I think you guys beat them. Is there any chance that the four 1 seeds end up anyone besides KU, Memphis, UCLA, and UNC? I really can't remember a year when they were all so clear.

Yeah, I think those are the 4. Memphis may be undefeated going into the tourney, with their conference. KU will lose a few times, but unless someone pulls off an upset and wins the conference, they will be a 1. UNC has a pretty easy road in the ACC, as I think they are much better than the 2nd place team, Duke. UCLA has a tough conference, so they may be the only one in jeopardy of not getting a #1 seed. Of course, if they don't win the Pac10, WSU will probably win it and be the #1.

Only other shots are MSU or IU (if one romps thru the Big Ten), Georgetown (who has already lost at Pitt in a tough conf.), and Duke or Texas (if one dominates the non-UNC/KU part of their conf.).

Memphis could still lose, they still play both Gonzaga and Tennessee. Kansas, imo, could run their schedule. The Big 12 isn't all that good. UCLA would be undefeated, were it not for Collison being hurt. UNC, while better than Duke, shouldn't be penciled in to win those games. It is hard to beat a team 5 vs 8.

Where's the Tenn/Memphis game? Not that it matters since it won't be a long trip either way, but if it's on the UT campus, they might lose that one. I think they destory the Zags. Big 12 isn't good, but Texas could give them a game. Also, KSU may be able to match up with them athletically.

I think it is in Memphis. Kansas is very good. I think they handle those teams cause they will be ready for them. If someone gets em it will be someone they don't suspect, maybe Mizzou. I think they could do what Illinois did a few years ago. But, the pressure really adds up towards the end of the season then.

Good old Coach Cal. If you play in a conference that doesn't prep you at all for the tournament you might want to play those games on the road.

In fairness, Memphis and UT rotate, though I don't know how their Gonzaga deal is working.

Memphis traveled to both Tennessee and Gonzaga last year. They are just returning to complete the home and home deal. Maybe they should have been scheduled it in alternate years (one at home and one away each year) but this isn't a case of Calipari ducking competition.

While I agree that UNC isn't at the same level as KU, Memphis and UCLA, I believe UNC could end up playing their first four tourney games in North Carolina. That should make life easier for them.

Well I guess I would have tried to rotate them anyways. Last year's team didn't have Rose, the best player in the country, to lead them to the title.

Rose isn't the best player in the country this season.

I beg to differ.

I don't see anything in his numbers that would scream best player in the nation. His counting stats are down because he only plays less than 28 minutes per game. His rate stats aren't that impressive either. 1.41 Assist/Turnover ratio, only makes 1.41 points per shot along with only shooting 70 percent from the line. His numbers, especially for a point guard, look very ugly against good competition (most of the games he has poor shooting percentages and low assist/turnover ratio).

You shouldn't. He may be the #1 pick this coming year, but that doesn't make him the best player now.

Rose is like Deron Williams was in college. The numbers don't tell the true story as to how valueable he is. Everyone thought WIlliams wasn't nearly as good as any of the three point guards from the ACC that year, Paul, Felton, and Jack. He was, he just played on a team where he didn't need to put up huge numbers. For my money Rose is the best player in college this year and will have the biggest impact on the tournament.

Deron never had a A/TO ratio that low in any of his years, and he played around less talent for the first couple years. The closest thing to Deron in college basketball right now is DJ Augustin, except he scores more than Deron did and is a few inches shorter.

Deron also played in a more controlled system than Memphis does. Niether Self nor Weber allowed Deron to do the stuff that Cal lets Rose do.

Ok? And apparantly he doesn't do it that well, because he still has a mediocre A/TO ratio.

I shouldn't have said we'd "kill" UNC, because I don't think it would be a blowout. But I think we'd own them defensively and physically.

I think Beasley is the best player in college hoops, but I don't think KSU will make the tourney. Not sure who I'd pick after that.

We've had really good teams lose in COlumbia before. It could happen this year, especially if you play like you did against Texas and we come out flat. If you press us, though, we'll chew you up. Anderson needs to keep it slow against us.

We'll have to shoot completely out of our minds again, like we did against Texas. I don't know if this team knows how to keep it slow. I hope its somewhat close though, so I don't feel the need to turn it off at halftime (I don't have a ticket, but I think that'll work out ok for me)

ugh, holy cross is in trouble. we crapped the bed last night, losing to army at home, 53-39. pissed the ball away 22 times. our starting pg is hurt, our starting forward is playing hurt and is pretty ineffective, and the 6th man (usually plays 20+ minutes) is also hurt. need to get healthy or the season might be lost.
