I was just talking about this a few days ago....why hasn't Prior been more active and visable with the team this year? is there a policy that players can't be in the dugout when they're on the DL? I can recall only seeing Prior at a game once this whole season.

I think he's been in AZ this whole time, which is why we've seen him when the Cubs have been over there.

he prolly had his own thing with rehap going-thus no time to be there

The camera probably focused on him for a good 3-4 seconds, but I'm pretty sure Dick Stockton had no idea who it was, as he never mentioned him. He did mention earlier things like, "That's Soto on the right." when they showed Murton and Soto in the dugout. But he was just silent this time.

Dick Stockton is still trying to figure out who that guy is standing next to him providing color during the games. "He doesn't look like Bob Brenly, they told me it would be Bob Brenly!"

What are the chances he'll be back with the team next year?

better be 100%. But I'd say they are pretty good, at least.

Yeah, I really have no idea.

I could see somebody with authority thinking, "The key to the success of 2007 was forgetting about Prior and Wood, so let's just be done with it and let him go." I could see somebody say, "I'm not going to be suckered into losing money on a guy like that and I don't care if he does well elsewhere." I could also see them being 100% committed to trying to get the most out of him. It's like most things involving the offseason, depends on the sale. I'm hoping for 75%, but I'm worried it's no better than 50/50.

On the plus side, Bruce indicated in an article in August that he's expected to be back. And the clueless Gordon Whittenmeyer (sp?) was one of the guys who early on suggested that the Cubs would just let him go rather than pay him again.

It's going to be 2 clueless sides pulling on a loose knot with regards to Prior. One side not understanding sunk costs, the other side thinking we succeeded because there was no Mark Prior distraction. Hopefully they tighten the knot rather than rip the rope in half. You don't throw away a post-surgery Mark Prior.

Hendry hasn't shown to be big on non-tendering or DFA'ing.

he did DFA Rusch after he nearly died

Heartless.

I think Prior will be the comeback player of the year.

I've said that for what seems like the last 10 seasons

I'll be right one of these years.

And, since I'm not an expert on the surgery / injuries he had, can we expect his velocity to be back?
