lee came in sporting a sweet .289 career postseason SLG.

Most of which is propped up by 2 doubles coming against the Cubs in 2003.

i don't believe in clutch, but i believe in choking. and lee looks terrified out there. it's pathetic.

I'm with you on that, don't believe players improve and are clutch but I believe hitters can play considerably worse in tense situations.

Wouldn't the ability to not tense up be the "clutch" then?

I'm sick and tired of supporting crappy teams. What did I do to deserve this? Cubs? Bears? Blackhawks? Purdue? I get more punishment than murderers.

Misery loves company: Cubs, Bears, Notre Dame grad. I am the epitome of suffering. Got my hopes really up for the Super Bowl - it almost killed me.

I should really consider start playing with dolls.

Steve Bartman, is that you?

The worst thing is theres no defining moment to commemorate this years dissapointment. No over zealous fans, no should be inning double plays, just a bunch of really bad baseball.

Ah but the pundits will blame Lou.

As they should, he has been terrible this series.

Agreed. But I think the real blame lies with our BIG THREE. Oh...and Bartman.

I like how everyone assumed I was talking about them, specifically.

I'm not too stoked about this outcome, either. But i've read over a dozen "TED LILLY IS A PIECE OF [expletive]!" and "DERREK LEE IS AN OVERRATED PIECE OF GARBAGE!" comments.

Take it easy, fellas.

The blame would be well-deserving.

The offense, Marmol and Lilly deserve the rest of the blame but Lou put this team at a position to fail.

I think this team was built for the regular season. The offense was built to pound pitchers who give up mistakes constantly. They face a good team, they lose.

We were a victim of the bad NL Central. The only series we won against a winning team in the second half of the season was against the Brewers.

Well, Purdue did beat ND - so there's that. If you're from SB I played hockey at Riley.

I think we might be the only team in the playoffs he starts for. At least in the NL.

I am sure AZ would take him in a heart beat. The other two starting 1B are Todd Helton and Ryan Howard so I am not sure what your point is. This is why the playoffs are a crapshoot. Two bad games can make any team or player look bad. Think the 101 win Braves were thrilled to lose to the Cubs in '03?

I think Conor Jackson is better than Derrek Lee. Hell he almost had as many homers and rbis playing in a platoon.

Ha, ha - that is funny.

Ehhhhhhhhhh, I guess. But that's not how the term is used - it's used to say a hitter is doing far better than his norms in tense, game-altering situations.

See I always assumed that is what clutch really meant. It is still a game of failure, but the guys who don't get all tense still have the same chance. Thus they are perceived as more clutch.

doug davis is not a good pitcher. And that doesn't explain why the d-bags crappy offense was able to tee off on lilly. He just choked, no two ways about it.

Yeah, Jo Bo is tearing it up. Have you actually looked at this stats?

OK. He has a high ERA pitching in the AL. And 45 saves.

Just like the D-Backs give up more runs than they score. So where are they & where are we?
