And this makes me even more nervous...

Yeah well didn't BP predict the White Sox would have a terrible year this year? I didn't even see that one coming. So I'm going with BP on this one.

If memory serves, they predicted the Sox to go 72-90. The Sox record? 72-90.

I think the guys at BP would be the first to admit these things are pretty much not predictable. And the Cubs don't have to beat Webb at all. I'm actually more worried about being shut down by Davis and Owings.

Doug Davis. The classic crap lefty that punks the Cubs.

Pretty much any pitcher where the strategy to beat him is to be patient and wait for good pitches.

Not sure if anybody posted this but, ESPN gives up this gem

Both teams rely on pitching to win games, meaning we could see some low-scoring baseball throughout the series. No disrespect intended toward Sweet Lou, but Melvin's excellent track record of staff management this season points to Arizona's having an edge in close games. The Cubs beat up on Arizona's lone lefty starter, Doug Davis, but go quietly against the D-backs' righties. Diamondbacks in 4.

Which ESPN guy says that? Most of them are predicting the Cubs to win.

The Keri dude or whatever. One of the guys that picked the DBacks.

Ah. Sad. He's normally not such a dumb guy.

I'm pretty sure that is from foxsports.com....or maybe my memory is failing me due to reading every article written about the cubs since Friday...

Loved that article.

I don't think the Cubs have ever swept a series, correct?

They aren't sweeping this one. I think it goes to 5.

This is the same DBacks team I couldn't wait to get away from earlier in the year. They went to Milwaukee and got destroyed, then they came to us and inexplicably played out of their minds. I hate this freaking team. Not only for their ridiculous bucking of reality, but also because they're like the Marlins: they have no fans, so they wait for someone else to provide the excitement then they beat you.

They're baseball leeches.

and a decided Eurotrash feel with names like Alfonso, Geovany, Jacque, Aramis, and Theriot; that could be the VIP list at a Prague disco.

No way this series goes 5 games. It ends Saturday...

He'll get it done. I have no doubt. I don't think any of these games will even be close.

Just a feeling. I hardly ever feel confident about this team. Even in 2003 after losing game 5 I knew we weren't going to win the series. This year is different I think we are going to the World Series. I trust my feelings and they are hardly ever wrong.

I trust my feelings

He asked you to help him combat his pessimism - I don't think that channeling the ghost of managers past as your source of optimism is the way to do that. Have a heart and lie to the guy, or make something up.

LOL.

Well here's to cubbiechris' feelings, at any rate.
