Sorry if this is somewhere else.

But I have been told by two people now. (One next to Wrigley) That the Cubs are getting the outfield resodded today.

That didn't take long, suppose they want it in and water it good before winter comes.

Or...you know...the playoffs.

I assumed this as well. A short term fix.

Apartently Giangrecco (sp?) had a piece on this last night. They tore it up last night and just put the sod rolls on waveland. ANyone want to go grab me some?

Just Sod, or are they going to tear it down and relevel it like they need to?

Probably going to completely tear it up and redo it in the offseason. They still haven't committed to it, though.

wont new sod be really hard to start and stop on? will it move around at all?

I can see it now, 4 outs fom the Series, Cubs up by 3 runs, and Soriano blows out his knee chasing down a fly ball. Cubs loose.

just say'n.

New sod is usually a bit of a problem. But there are 10 days before any potential game on that field, it should be in good shape by then. Football teams sometimes resod midweek, and there's a lot more starting and stopping in that sport. Odds are you'll see some clumps come up here and there, and it will be noticeable for the TV cameras, but given the time frame, a quality grounds crew should be able to make it playable and relatively safe.

5 days if there were a 1-game playoff. Not saying there will be, but...

I think they did this a FEW times in Tiger Stadium after Hurricane Katrina when the Saints played a few games there, along with LSU. I am pretty sure it worked out OK.

Well I just got back from Wrigley, there are piles of the old stuff along Sheffield. I came back with more than my share, and have planted it. Any tips on maintaining sod?

The sod will take root withing 5 or 6 days. After 10 days it should be pretty solid. It can't be worse than what was out there.

So your saying that should the Cubs host a game in lets say 4 days from now for lets say the Division championship, the field would be in horrible shape?
