Not that I care. But, what kind of idiot leaves his injured superstar in a meaningless game (to the Cards) when you are being blown out?

Or leaving your ace (at the moment) pitcher to hang when he's getting shelled for 9 runs?

Pads get Jason Lane.

He'll join Michael Barrett, Morgan Ensberg, Scott Hairston, and Rob Mackowiak on the list of random mediocre players aquired by the Padres througout the course of the season.

The Lane acquisition isn't random... they needed a replacement for Bradley... everything else is a head scratcher... does Barrett even have a HR for the Padres yet this season?

How about Ron Artest?

It just doesn't make any sense.

The fact that Waiwright is their ace suggests trouble, as does the fact that Todd "Wow, He's Still out There" Wellemeyer is in their starting rotation.

You don't think the Brewers would rather get into the bullpen early?

Remind me not to have you manage a ballclub anytime soon...

Wainwright, Looper, Wellemeyer. The Cardinals entire pitching staff is a bullpen.

This is ridiculous.

The Marlins are likely going to finish with under 70 wins.

They've lost 3 in a row.

They have a *HORRIBLE* home record. 33-45. Only Baltimore is as bad.

They are pitching 3 meatballs with 5+ ERAs in the series.

Their top pitcher this year is Dontrelle Willis, who has 9 wins. 9!!

They rank 16th in the NL with a team 4.98 ERA. That's last.

They rank 15th in the NL with a .286 BAA. 2nd to last.

Enough of this crap. It is IN OUR HANDS, forget the Brewers and win these games.

Clinching against the Marlins would excersise a lot of '03 Demons.

Pujols is in there because he won't come out of the lineup. He's almost at his seventh straight 100 RBI season and he probably wouldn't sit either way.

Wainwright being in there for that long is completely inexplicable. He'll probably blow his elbow out throwing the last game of the season. 75 IP last year, and 180 or something in AAA in 2005. It's really getting pointless and kind of scary.

Talk me back from the ledge please. Will the Brewers have to 7-0 to beat us? I'm feeling kinda dumb about this.

What ledge? How many games do you think we will lose to the likes of the Marlins and the Reds?

I hoping we clinch in Miami, but we're too close and I'm feeling nervous

Cubs record...Brewers record to tie...to win

0-6...3-3...4-2

1-5...4-2...5-1

2-4...5-1...6-0

3-3...6-0...N/A

4-2...N/A...N/A

5-1...N/A...N/A

6-0...N/A...N/A

Updated for today's win

If we go 2-4, they have to take 3/4 from the Padres to just tie.

We're fine as long as we win 2 more games.

Get yourself together man. we have Ted Lilly tommorow. Thats a W. Between Marquis and Hill, chalk up at least 1 more W. Zambrano wants the Reds BAD. 1 more W.

Meanwhile, whatever happens with the Cards, are the Brewers going to beat Peavy, Young and Maddux? I'm thinking not.

Win a few games against the worst in the NL. That's all. Otherwise it's done. I don't think that's too much to ask of a "playoff team."

BTW, I don't think many would consider a 3 game lead with 6 left to be "too close." We've been dueling the Brewers within a game or two for a month now.

Do you realize that 3 1/2 games back is the furthest out of first place that they've been ALL YEAR?

Was there really a 'cubbies suck' chant in Milwaukee a few minutes ago? I was watching the game and I'm pretty sure that's what they were chanting. If so, that's pretty hilarious. I hope they do that some more.

Haha, that's pretty [expletive]. They're three games behind us, and they're chanting that we suck? Wow!

Haha, that's rich.

So selective memory apparently can block out a complete collapse by your baseball team from 8 1/2 up to 3 1/2 down.
