anyone from the st. louis area know much about pat maroon? He's a forward from the St. Louis area; apparently he played for former Blues tough guy Kelly Chase, and Chase called the Flyers and recommended Maroon during the 2006 NHL draft. They grabbed him in the 6th round. From what I understand, his stock slipped because he was fat and there were questions about his foot speed. Since then apparently he's gotten in good shape, and has been a monster on the ice for London in the WHL - 12 goals, 11 assists in 11 games. Plus he's not one of the little snipers who lights up the CHL and then can't cut it in the bigs - he's 6'4" and weighs 220 lbs.

Some folks on a flyers board seem pretty excited about him and think we got a great late-round steal.

I still think they should have taken Turris, that kid is a monster. He's ripping up the NCAA right now. The Coyotes have an absolutely stacked future.

hard to say... van riemsdyk looks good too. I think Turris may end up being the better pure scorer while JVR has more of the power forward abilities.

I went to the Blues game last night and had a blast. I hadn't been to a hockey game in probably ten years, but I really enjoyed myself. I wouldn't know where to start though if I were to start getting into hockey. There's so little that I know.

Just keep watching. The Blues have a good future. They also have a strong following. If you find a good Blues board you could probably just read and get a lot of info.

kings played their best game of the year and beat the stars 2-1. this team is finally starting to come together.

The Kings also made a good move and locked up Dustin Brown for 6 years at 3.175 per. I really like this kid. He is a great hitter with solid offensive potential.

yeah he's probably my second favorite player on the team actually. he's probably a top 5 hitter in the game right now, and he's breaking out (8 points in 11 games i think). could end up being a bargain in a few years.

i really like lombardi. it's strange liking the gm of the team i follow.

Not only did the Wings roll the Sharks tonight. They extended Draper for about 1.5 per. Good signing. I know he is 36, but is pretty much as good now as he was when he was 23 and you cant complain about the money.

O'Sullivan snapped out of his season long offensive slump (he's been solid really, just snake bitten offensively) with 2 goals in the Kings 4th straight win last night. Labarbera is on fire.

i might make it a point to go out of my way and watch avs/wild games the rest of the year.

Looks like the Hawks are back to their old, sucky selves.

been ugly the last 3 games; the defense is the biggest concern, imo, but also guys like Samsonov and Perreault really need to step it up offensively.

Why because almost all of them are on Sunday?

because they're two entertaining teams playing entertaining hockey. the game yesterday wasn't as good (though i missed the first period...stupid computer clock), but they should provide high quality entertainment. playing in the afternoon on sundays is alright too.

I can't believe he's 36 already. I still hate Colorado.

Looks like VS got what they wanted a 4 pt. effort by Crosby. The whole Crosby sports network that VS has going on is getting annoying.

Just think he was a $1 waiver claim. For all the crap most fans gave the Wings for buying their team before the Cap. They made a lot of real savy deals.

The Canucks are so screwed. Mitchell and Krajicek were already injured. Now Bieksa might be out for the rest of the season and Salo could miss 3-4 months. This season looks like a writeoff.

EDIT: Looks like I overreacted. Salo out 4 weeks, Bieksa out 6-8 weeks.

Don't worry. They'll be back just before the playoffs and you'll finish in 8th and knock out my Wings in 7 in the first round.

Blues played a great game last night at Minnesota. They are going to be inconsistent all year, as evidenced by the bad home loss to Phoenix on Tuesday, but things are looking up.
