Gameday showed that as being a homer by a longshot....

but a flyout to left? hmm?

I thought it was long gone. Missed it by a foot or so.

He was on the warning track when he caught it... he didn't have to jump or anything, though, but his arm was near the top of the wall.

Ding Dong! The Cards are dead. Which old Cards? The Wicked Cards!

Ding Dong! The Wicked Cards are dead.

Wake up - sleepy head, rub your eyes, get out of bed.

Wake up, the Wicked Cards are dead. They're gone where the goblins go,

Below - below - below. Yo-ho, let's open up and sing and ring the bells out.

Ding Dong' the merry-oh, sing it high, sing it low.

Let them know

The Wicked Cards are dead!

I feel confident playing the Cards. Bring'em on! I have a feeling Tony is going to try to jump start his ballclub with a HBP or two. Just a feeling.

Ouch....... 400 people attended the Nats/Marlins game yesterday... that musta been a real madhouse of fan activity.

as seen on CardsTalk.

Judging by these pics, I think someone inflated the numbers and added a 0 to the truthful 40 people in attendance.!!

Worst fans in baseball, always have been ever since they came in.

The Marlins' article claims 10,000 -- obviously almost all no-shows.

It would be cool to go to a game like this though, wouldn't it? You'd probably be able to hear what the players were saying on the field, you could literally sit wherever the hell you wanted. There would probably be an echo when a hitter cracked a line drive.

Surreal.

Back in the early 80's Wrigley was pretty empty. I remember buying the cheapest seats and moving to box seats. Everything changed after 1984.

Well I think there is no hope for any sort of turn around for the Marlins. If 2 World Series doesn't do it, nothing will.

Oh, I agree. I can't see how the Marlins are going to survive without a stadium deal.

The CUBS had a lot of crowds in the hundreds back in the early/mid sixties. Gave the fans a chance to get to know the players !!

The Cards are dead. Long live the Cards !!!

Remember back in '98 when the Giants were 5 back of the Cubs and Mets with a week to play?

Nobody's dead until they're mathematically eliminated.

I remember a few empty houses when I was a kid. Everything did seem to change in 1984.

I don't remember anything quite this bad though, and obviously it wasn't like the Cubs were only 4 years removed from a World Championship.

Marlins fans just aren't very good. I guess they've got other things to do, but still. I would think just watching the Sept. callups develop would draw more than that to the ballpark. Aren't there any Marlins fans who follow the minors and look for the young players to start developing?
