I don't understand resting Aram on a day against a tough team with the wind howling out and the offense in the tank for the last few weeks. I do understand resting Aram at certain points, but this looked like a day he should have been playing.

I really hope this doesn't come off as a Ramirez bash, because it isn't intended to be. But he needs to suck it up and play everyday in September. We've put up with him jogging and half-assing it the whole season (which is fine, considering the risk associated with him playing full steam ahead), but he needs to man up and play everyday from here on out.

I agree completely. Even if he's at 80% he's still more productive than just about every other player on the team. If he gets hurt down the stretch, well, that's a risk I think you have to take.

You know, he's not in control of that. There is a manager around. If taking a day off today means he'll play the rest of the way, I'll take it.

A manager? Really, what's that?

Don't talk to me like I'm an idiot. Come on, if Ramirez wanted to play badly enough today, he would've been in the lineup and you know it.

You do realize that he said just a couple days ago that ramirez said in the paper that if it was up to him he wouldnt take any off days until the end of the year because he feels the team needs him this last month.

Ummm...No. Ramirez has stated that he wants to play every day. This is lou's call.

I would think that Aram would have begged Lou to put him in the lineup when he saw the flags blowing straight out. We watched the Dodgers take batting practice and just about everyone hit 2-3 homers.

I trust Lou and that he knows his players and when to play them. I believe that Lou sees the big picture and IMO the Cubs will start to hit in about a week and still be refreshed while the others start to fade.

Man, you're an eternal optimist -- that's gonna get you in trouble.

I like what Lou is doing on the most part and it's been quite refreshing compared to foolishness of Baker.

We'll see if it works. I really have my doubts. Have nothing against Lou...I simply have no faith that the Cubs can put together a good streak and win the Central.

Wow, how ridiculous.

Ramirez has told Lou, and the press, on more than one occasion that he doesn't need anymore rest and he'll play everyday. Lou thinks otherwise. It's his call.

I basically was going to post what's already been posted about 5x about Aramis having said he wants to play the rest of the way, so I won't even bother.

Oh, wait...guess I did.

i do question his philosophy of resting though, he seems to pull out the strangest guys when we have the lead (not often) but never guys with history of injuries like Lee and ARam.

I assume you mean a big lead, correct? If it's close I want my best defensive guys in there and that's what Lee and Ramirez are. Plus, don't the Cubs have a game every day for the next 16 or so days in a row? I think it's wise to give them all a break every so often, especially with this heat we've had.

Only having 7 more home games should elimiante some of the day game after a night game problems which likely prompted the day of rest. The bad part of that being that it means Kendall starts almost every game the rest of the way. I'd rather see Soto up there, especially against the Sept. call-ups that he destroyed in AAA.

I'm sure that it was Lou's idea, I'm not doubting that at all. I just wish that our cleanup hitter would convince his manager to not sit him during the most critical month of the season.
