Appalachian State got 19 votes in the AP Poll this week and are in 33rd place.

And Auburn gets more votes than South Florida in the good ole boy poll.

The easy answer to this is to eliminate the polls altogether (long overdue) and institute a playoff system.

Zero chance of it happening though.

This isn't going to produce the best team.

I like ND, but OH MY. Getting a little ahead of ourselves aren't we ESPN?

I think you're missing the joke.

Boy, do I feel like a moron, I totally missed that. I clicked the link and just saw what looked like ESPN and the headline. Didn't even look at the other aspects of the page.

Just because Oregon thrashed Michigan it doesn't mean Oregon is a better team.

yeah when you beat a team by 32 points on the road, i'd say it pretty clearly shows that you ARE a better team

At this point in the season, there's no reason not to put USF ahead of Auburn. They went to Auburn and beat them and should be ranked ahead. At least the AP Poll got it right.

1. I thought they weren't eligible.

2. If they were eligible why did they have 0 votes last week?

3. If 1 is true and 2 is not true, then why did the AP change the rules?

The AP changed the rules in the middle of last week because some voters expressed interest in voting for App State.

How in the world can you beat this kind of bias? This thing is so rigged it's almost WWF mind boggling.

And that's why the Coaches Poll is useless.

I'm glad they're not afraid to move teams around large amounts. However..Georgia falls to 23 and 25, and VT, who has put up 17 offensive points in two games, only fell to 17 and 18? What?

Haha. That's good stuff. I like the "what's hot" section on the far right side when you scroll down towards the bottom.

But the "experts" are so sure they're good, just like they were that Michigan was #5. Hey, it's a name they know.

Some huge games coming up next week. Arkansas-Alabama. USC-Nebraska. Tennessee-Florida. Louisville-Kentucky (first to 60 wins?). Georgia Tech-BC is enormous.

The biggest improvement for a team is suppose to be in between their first and second game. They had Louisville on their heels the whole game and did a nice job of moving the ball with confidence. If LSU stomps on the confidence and keeps them down, I look for a huge blowout. But, if they get it going the Tigers may too be on their heels. I do realize LSU has a way better D than Louisville But they also don't have quite the explosiveness ass the Cards do on offense to counter a good game by a good offense. Mind you they have a good offense but I'm curious on how they would respond if their D is giving up points.

Outside of the QB position (if we still had Russell there'd be very little questions IMO), I'd probably put LSU's offensive talent up against any number of top ranked teams. You, MAY BE right about LSU being on their heels IF they get going, but MTSU would have to get going first. I'll be floored if LSU gives up more than 10-14 points to MTSU. I think you'll be disappointed in this game in that I don't think you'll see the D giving up points in this one to see how LSU's O responds.

You may be right about the defense in that game but imo no way does LSU have a better offense than Louisville.

I didn't say LSU's O was better, I just wouldn't be afraid to get into an offensive slug fest. I think LSU's offensive talent can probably hang with anyone. The only question (granted a big one) is at QB.

No. It shows you played better then. Even though the order was reversed the point will still stand. Look at the two games FSU and UF played in 1996. One was 56-20 the other was 24-20. Look at 2003 Oklahoma and Kansas State, KSU won 35-7 but it doesn't mean that KSU was a better team.

This isn't going to produce the best team.

It'll produce the most deserving. That's not always the most talented team.

It doesn't produce the most deserving either. It produces a winner and the system does it now. what's the difference? both are poor ways.

I guess so. If you have control of a business that makes you millions of dollars having control of who goes where certainly helps.

If a playoff system and a poll system are both bad ways, tell me a good one.

Michigan with zero votes.

They should get negative votes if that were possible. Stupid Michigan. I can't believe they're 0-2.

No that's different. This is actual head to head competition instead of the perception of what's better. God forbid you beat the team in their place, have a better record and actually be considered better.

Apples and oranges.

One head-to-head matchup doesn't necessarily prove one team is better than the other.

Lord isn't using just Michigan to say the Big 10 is weak.
