Not to mention the fact that us not getting too up in arms about possibly losing this series obviously would affect the team's effort level somehow.

I may not be happy with losing 2/3, but facts are facts. If we lose tonight and tomorrow, we're only losing a game of ground. No need for us to panic. The players have to take care of business. At this point, it looks like slightly over .500 will be good enough to do so. In the meantime, we'll be seeing a lot of mediocre baseball.

How many good outings does Kerry have to have before everyone stops saying he sucks?

Considering he's only being brought in for mop-up duty, it's going to take a lot for him to prove his worth.

It's time to give up the dream. Wood isn't going to be a good ML pitcher.

Kerry Wood has to prove himself in important situations

U

Kerry Wood hasn't pitched in important situations.

Kerry Wood sucks.

Sorry it's so sloppy, I sadly forgot my logic symbols. :(

Meh. Worst case, we lose a game of ground in this series. That's why winning yesterday was so big.

We have to stop thinking like that.

There's no excuse to let a team that was just swept by a last place team to come into your house and win two out of three. None.

The problem is that there's no killer instinct among anyone on this team (except maybe Z); they all think they can go 83-79 and win the World Series just like the Cards did. You know what? That's a rarity. You can't expect to play like utter dogcrap in the most important games of the year and be ready to throw the switch come playoff time.

The Brewers are a dying team. Instead of nailing the coffin shut, we're giving them CPR.

Yeah everyone else on the team besides Z isn't trying cause they want to put up as little effort as posible in winning the division. They certainly don't want to build up a lead so they can relax down the stretch. Only Z is trying, and I know this because he waves his arms when he ends an inning. Derrek Lee doesn't even smile that often.

Do you ever watch Lee at the plate after he gets called for a third strike, or hits another can of corn to shallow left? The look on his face is like someone whose dog's just been shot. That's not what I'd call a killer instinct.

Oh God. Are you seriously citing a player's facial expressions now?? Seriously??

I'd like to see his WHIP (1.50 after tonight) and his walks (6 in 9 1/3 innings) go down a little bit, but he hasn't been terrible.

Ahhh, looked em up, it was a bunch of symbols not on a keyboard, and it all came rushing back to me. Regardless, I hope you guys understood what I was getting at.

The only acceptable way to strike out is to break a bat over your knee.

Oh God. Yes I am. Seriously. Only a fool would think that something's not wrong with him based on that, and his poor offensive production this year.

But don't let me muddy up your pollyannish view of this team, that's everything's just swell.

Ramirez not hustling into 2nd!!! What if Estrada accidentally kicked that ball 40 feet away from himself???

Normally this comment would make me roll my eyes and get upset...tonight i actually laughed out loud. And I am alone.

It's time to give up the dream. Wood isn't going to be the pitcher we remember from 1998, or even the stretch run in 2003, at least the lights-out arm everybody remembered him to be.

He doesn't need to be as good as he was in 1998 or 2002-early 2004 to be an effective reliever. He's been good so far.

Kinda disappointing to see another Zambrano start head south. No offensive support either. Oh well, as long as the Cobs win the series I won't bitch too much. :?

I am impressed with your ability to judge people emotions and feelings based on their expressions. You must be one of the best poker players in mankind, I bet you can just see through people's poker faces.
