Now that he's past Hank, is there really much reason for the Giants to hold on to Bonds? He's best suited for the AL as a DH, and I suspect that's where he'll play next year. If the Giants are ready to move on after 2007, they will not want to risk offering him arbitration, but they still would want to get something in return for him. I'd imagine, at his salary, he'd likely clear waivers....

I think I could get over his personality flaws if his MLB-best 1.081 OPS was in the middle of the Cubs lineup.

Move Soriano to RF if/when he comes back and you have:

RF Soriano

SS TheRiot

1B DLee

LF Bonds

3B ARam

2B DeRosa

CF Jones/Pie

C Kendall

I stand by my belief that Barry is already blackballed by 29 MLB teams. And the 30th is ready to be donw with him, perhaps, after this year. If he's not a Giant next year, he'll be on his couch, IMO.

I want no part of Bonds. If he doesn't re-sign with the Giants, then he's done. Maybe there will be an AL team desparate for hitting and insert him as their DH. Other than that, I can't see any team wanting to sign him based on his history, his probable high demands, and risking a bad fan reaction to the signing.

why did you make the point of him pretty much only being suited to play DH...which is very very true...and then say you wouldn't mind him in cubbie blue?

you are silly

personally, if his gynormous head decides to come back next year...it will be with someone in the AL

he wants to win a championship (those words actually surprised me...and he also wants to hit 3000)

i am interested to see where he goes...

I think he is saying that since the Giants might be done with him, and he will probably goto an AL team next year, why not trade for his bat for the next 2 months as a rental.

Cuz he'd have to clear waivers?

I'd be nearly certain he would.

Any idea of him clearing waivers to come to the cubs has one very good reason it will never happen -- and it has nothing to do with him making it through waivers. :)

I'd rather win without a cheater who can't play everyday.

Um...after 99 years, I'd take an outfield of Hussein, Hitler, and Bonds with Satan on the hill.

People need to get over it. I remember in 2004 when people were saying "I don't even want to win it because Alou is such a complainer and Sammy cheated (cork) this year. Blah blah blah".

Just win a damn trophy.

That's what I was saying -- he's not very good in LF anymore but there wouldn't have to be a commitment to bringing him back next year. If you have a speedy Pie in center to cover more ground it would be worth it to add that kind of bat to the lineup.

I'm over the cheater stuff -- like apete6 pretty much said, if Bonds was part of the reason the Cubs ended a 99 year drought I know I would still enjoy every moment of winning a World Series.

Me too, without a cheater. Great his OPS is awesome... but the last thing we need is some old guy who could fall apart at any moment that doesn't play every day.

And you know for certain that no one on the current roster has ever cheated in his past? The whole era is tainted. I say get over it, get the best players you can, and finally win it all.

Someone who feels the same way I do.
