Jim Edmonds-OF-Cardinals Aug. 6 - 10:28 am et

Jim Edmonds said during an interview Sunday that he would be open to a trade if the Cardinals feel it is in the best interest of the organization.

"I'm just saying: If for whatever reason things change here and they want to move me, I'm not going to sit here and be stubborn about leaving," Edmonds said. "I'm an organizational guy. I'm here for the organization. I always have been. If they wanted to do something, I'd listen." Edmonds is under contract until the end of the 2008 season.

Countdown to Hendry trading for Edmonds in 5...4...3...2...

Oh, there's some tangible bad blood between Edmonds and the Cubs, I'm not sure how the fans would react to that. Didn't Edmonds say Wrigley is the worst place to play a baseball game in the majors?

Countdown to interesting love/hate relationship development in 3.....2......1...... 8-)

I could see the hate, but where would the love come from? Jim Edmonds is terrible.

IMHO, this would be a more than acceptable lineuo, especially considering the teams wer'e playing this month

1. Theriot SS

2. DeRosa 2B

3. Lee 1B

4. Ram 3B

5. Jones CF

6. Murton LF

7. Floyd RF

8. Kendall C

This is a very solid lineup. If Jones or Murton falter, you have Pie or Patterson waiting in the wings. Too bad Kroeger got hurt. It could have been his chance.

And for the love of God, just DFA Will Ohman already. You could almost hear a sigh of relief coming from the Mets dugout when he came in last night.

It may be the best they can do with what they have, but solid? I guess it depends on how you define it, but people should remember the lineup is no better than average, and by some measures (OPS+) they are below average. That's with Soriano. If you get the hot version of Murton replacing Soriano, then maybe that lineup is solid. But if Murton is a step below Soriano, then your talking about a very questionable lineup. Sure, if all those guys perform at their best, it's going to score a lot of runs. But that's not going to happen.

The latest SCORE update says Hendry is looking to make a waiver deal for either Dunn, Craig Monroe, Matt Stairs, or Ryan Church. Taken with a grain of salt of course since it's the SCORE.

I'd like Dunn.

As in, before tonight's game?

No. Just rumors of the people he's after.

That's quite the range of players.

Of those guys, Dunns the only one who would be any improvement over what we already have.

That'd be something if we got Dunn. Not too often that one of your good players gets hurt, fans cry as they fear the season may be over, and then you get a better player than the one you lost.

Fixed.

I completely refuse to get my hopes up for this.

I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that Hendry acquires Craig Monroe in a deal involving Will Ohman.

I'll then go out onto a limb and predict that that's a total crap move.

You've scooped some moves before. Are you playing coy about it or is that really a guess on your part?

Just a guess.

Eyre's pitching better. I wouldn't be surprised if Piniella has lost patience with Ohman. Hendry's long been interested in Monroe. Even in a horrible year for Monroe, he apparently can still hit LHP. He'd also have a non-trivial chance of hitting a home run now and then, which is more than you can say for our other outfielders.
