Would be nice to see Kid K come in the 7th inning, and strike out the side of the 3-5 hitters in the Met lineup.

One can only dream..

What do we chalk Hill's abnormally low run support to? Coincidence, anomaly -? Players get bored watching him pitch so they can't hit? It's really much lower than anyone else.

It probably doesn't even have to do a lot more with the Hill as much as the opposing pitcher.

But I remember in 2004 Clement pitched great and got absolutely no run support most of the time. That was one of the many things really annoying about 2004.

I remember the same thing happening to Kevin Tapani one year...seemed like he NEVER got any offensive support...

youve just basically told us that Pathetic excuse for a pitcher Marquis stats are almost identical to Douche Glavines. Glavine has 1 more win, with equal losses, and Marquis ERA and WHIP are slightly better.

The lefty factor is the thing to watch out for.

Yup, if you're a pathetic excuse for a pitcher your numbers will probably be close to that of a Douche

Start Murton.

Despite Floyd's 1.081 OPS and Murton's 0 for 7 against Glavine, I'd say that's a pretty good bet.

Yeah, lefties hit Glavine pretty well. Floyd will definitely start, at least you would think.

Yeesh, Marquis' numbers are better than Glavines, yet I still think this is a huge mismatch in favor of the Mets. Soft tossing lefty going for 300 on national TV against our worst pitcher.

Worst pitcher ??? Come on now. You could argue that he's our BEST pitcher !!!

CUBS are 14-10 when Zambrano starts
CUBS are 13-10 when Lilly starts
CUBS are 14-8 when Marquis starts
CUBS are 9-12 when Hill starts
CUBS are 0-3 when Miller starts
CUBS are 1-2 when Guzman starts
CUBS are 7-6 when Marshall starts

As far as Glavine goes...... how'd the last pitcher that came into our house trying for his 300th win do ???

Go CUBS !!!

:bluekoolaid:

Brewers almost always win when vargas starts, doesn't make him their best pitcher either. W/L record is about the 15th best stat to judge a pitcher by.

I could live with either starting. I'd like to see Murton get some more at-bats and Floyd get a breather, but at the same time, Floyd's hit Glavine really well.

Oops sorry, missed the sarcasm.

I hear that the best way of beating Glavine is to hit the ball a long way, and then run round the basepaths quickly after it goes into the stands.

Its as good a theory as any, Cubs. Test it.

I hope they have this game on the TV in the press box at the River Cats game. They usually have the Sunday Night game on so it would be nice if they kept it up. Not like there will be anything else on at that time anyway.

RH loaded lineup again likely:

Soriano LF

Theriot SS

Lee 1B

Ramirez 3B

DeRosa 2B

Murton RF

Pagan CF

Kendall C

Marquis P

edit: Although Cliff does have good numbers against Glavine: .394, 2 HRs - so we'll see what Lou looks at...

lou is looking more and more like dusty every day. um, lou, didn't you learn anything from the hamels experience?

lefties are hitting .320 against glavine this season, don't tell me that lou hasn't noticed this, he's just way too stubborn to admit that conventional wisdom is wrong, here.

i think there's a difference, but "old school managers" fall into the same pitfalls--like batting right handers against changeup-throwing lefties.

Pray for no rain tonight. I will be with a group watching the game at one of the rooftop venues on Sheffield tonight. We're having a surprise party for my bro's 50th b-day there and I'll be sporting my NSBB t-shirt.

Lou started Fontenot and Jones against Moyer, who is a lefty.

I'd be OK with Floyd in there against a lefty but NOT JONES.

I fear that since Jacque got 2 hits to RF yesterday that he's gonna try to pull everything more so than he already did.

There's two sides to every split like that. LH have hit Glavine well, but would our LH? Murton destroys LHP and should be playing everyday anyway, and Fontenot and Jones have been truly awful against LHP(while DeRosa traditionally mashes them).
