I'm pretty sure we had a thread like this last year where we could report deals involving other teams instead of loading up the forum with hundreds of threads. Also, we can just keep the random chatting and deadline-waiting jibberish in here rather than adding unrelated posts to other threads.

So anyway, grab a magazine, have a seat, we're at T minus 4 and a half hours.

I'll keep this post updated until I go to work, and then if a Mod could take over it would be appreciated:

Deals So Far:

Cardinals acquire Joel Pinero from the Red Sox for a PTBNL. Link

Yankees acquire Wilson Betemit from the Dodgers in exchange for Scott Proctor Link

As soon as i announced it Vance, OMC, and Rob ran through and stole all the playboy and penthouse.

Seriously though, what the hell is it with Women's health and Highlights...they are in every waiting room ever.

I heard a rumor about the Cubs and Reds having a discussion about Griffey Jr. Was that all it was just a false rumor? Also do you see any moves the Cubs will make or no?

Buster Olney

I think Griffey mentioned that. I haven't talked with the Reds folks today, but as of sunday, there was no expectation that Griffey would be on the move.

Dunn, Dunn, Dunn, Dunn, Dunn, Dunn, Dunn!

I'd have to change my pants if we got dunn.

Plz Hendry. Do something awesome and don't just stand pat.

Jim Hendry always has a blockbuster up his sleeve. What do you see him doing at the deadline?

Steve Phillips

They can't make a blockbuster because the ownership trade precludes them from taking salary beyond thie year. They'll add an outfielder along the lines of a Ryan Church or Bobby Kielty.

Well good news with church, but hendry has said over and over that they CAN add salary?

I've decided to just go ahead and log in. The idea of not logging in because posting would distract me too much at work has just distracted me.

Anyone wanna do the hidden pictures in Hilights?

AK (Chicago)

Are the Cubs good enough (without making a major deadline deal today) to play late into October?

JOE MORGAN

I think the Cubs are in good shape. Ted Lilly and Zambrano have been leading the charge, and their offense has been going good. I'd say they're a championship-caliber team.
