I haven't heard a deal where it actually makes sense, nor can I confirm that an offer was made, but enough people have told me that Felix Pie is on the block that I now believe it.

He better be going for something great, otherwise it makes absolutely no sense. Who's going to play CF for us in the next coming years? Jones? Bleh.

OK, so who have you heard about, Will?

Oh, and can you expound on the context of that article?

I was just coming to post this quote...

The article is a "Rumor mill" article. This was a blurb that was all on it's own. No other context to be had.

Just a one liner in the Rumor Mill updates.

Is it possible Lou doesn't like Pie? It would be shortsighted on him to cut a guy loose who will be here for years after he's gone, but why else would Pie be coming up in rumors for backup catchers?

Jon Heyman in SI said Pie for Laird.

I'm fine with trading Pie, but you better be damn sure you're getting a difference maker and not some replacement level player who does nothing special.

Can someone email him? You'd think that with something as important as that (relatively speaking) he'd do more than just hit-n'-run.

And, FWIW, Levine is saying Pie will not be traded.

Oh G-d that would be horrendous.

The Marlins are known to absolutely love Pie.

How about some sort of deal in which we come away with Jeremy Hermida?

Presumably, Jones in 2008, then who knows in 2009. But with Colvin in AA, it wouldn't be a surprise to think the Cubs thought of him as their guy by then.

Pie for Laird and Gagne? Right...

Any chance we could use him to get the Rangers to spin us Salty? They've already got two very good catching prospects. If Pie was part of a deal to get Salty, I certainly wouldn't be upset.

Could you live with Pie for Church straight up?

OK, if it's Pie for Salty that's a different story.

Colvin makes Pie look like Adam Dunn in terms of taking walks. He's got 14 walks all year long. He only has an OPS of .700 right now in AA.

Miguel Cabrerra.

I'd trade Pie, Fox, Gallagher, Veal, and the Ghost of Frank Chance for Cabrerra. He can play right, right?

According to the New York Post, the Rangers might consider trading catcher Gerald Laird and a reliever to the Cubs for centerfield prospect Felix Pie. Makes sense, especially if the Rangers go against our GM's advice and take Salty.

Gee, you think they might consider it?

I'd include Murton, and probably more.
