Bruce just announced in the Game Thread that Murton was taken out of the lineup late and Floyd was put in...

The only explanation could be a weird injury or trade...

we're probably all gonna be let down again anyway but I'd thought I'd stir things up a bit until game time...

oh man, i'm done with this team if they trade murton for wigginton.

No kidding. That would be a horrible trade.

Good. Murton is worth more than Ty, much more.

Why would Tampa want Dan Wheeler? Are they in the playoff chase?

Is Wheeler signed through next season? Maybe they think next year is their year to break out?

That's good.

Of course, we probably traded murton for a journeyman reliever.

The opposite is true too. Why does Houston want Wigginton?

Yeah didn't even consider that. #-o

There are some strange deals going on this year.

Keep him from the Cubs? I'm not sure Houston thinks they're out of this.

The same reason they wanted Huff last year? Solid if unspectacular hitter with some pop (.275/.329/.458/.786 - BA/OBP/SLG/OPS - 16 HRs, 49 RBI) and wide versatility in the field with the ability to play all 3 bases and the corner outfield spots. Likely it was more to deal Wheeler than to gain Wigginton, but he's not a bad return.

That was my first reaction. This makes little sense from either angle.

after seeing the haul the padres got for linebrink, i'd be looking for something better than wigginton for my semi-decent middle relievers.

They wanted Huff to aid in a playoff run. There will be no manner of playoff run for Houston this year.
