i really don't know what to do, but i have been telling her to leave him for a while now...however, she doesn't know if she can afford it (she has a one year old child with this cobstick) and her family thus far has not been behind her decision to leave him...hopefully things will change now and she will get some support...

I am dead serious you have to put the fear of god into him. I had a similar situation with my sisters boyfriend. He is a drinker and liked to get tough. He did with her one time, my brother and I went over and talked with him. It hasn't happened since. Just talk with your fists.
