Quick side note, is there any competition for A-Ram as far as being the best Cubs trade since Sammy Sosa?

There shouldn't be. He's been our best player for 3 years.

Best position player. I'd argue Big Z as the best Cubs player though during that time period.

In 2005, I think Lee has to get some credit.

Lee was the best player by far in 2005, but over the course of the past 3 seasons, ARam has been more valuable.

Zambrano wasn't acquired via a trade though was he?

From 2004 to 2006, and thru 2007 so far, Aramis has been far superior. Lee wasn't very good in 2004.

What inning is it? My internal count says it should be the bottom of 4 when those runs just scored, but Yahoo is up to the top of the 5th and still says 5-3 Cubs.

It is the top of the 5th, Cubs ahead 7-3

Going to the bottom of the 5th, Cubs winning 7-3. I'm amazed Lilly was able to get through 5 innings today. He's probably done, since he's over 100 pitches.

7-3 top of the 5th.

Well, Yahoo sucks. They just finished the top of the 5th, 7-3 Cubs.

Pagan in for Floyd.

Why the hell did he run the bases then?

Wow, this coming from a fan of a team that has seen the likes of Kerry Wood, Mark Prior and Nomar Garciaparra play for them in the last 3 years, but Cliff Floyd is the most injury prone player I've ever seen.

Yeah...Moises and Rondell White have to be in that discussion too. Maybe JD Drew?

And one Mr. Ken Griffey Jr.

When did JD Drew or Ken Griffey play for the Cubs?

I'm from the future.

He was aquired from Venezuela for an 8 ball.

Nice job by Lilly to gut it out on a day when he didn't have anywhere close to his best stuff. It helps that he facing the Giants and that the wind is blowing is, but he did his best to keep his team in it despite himself.

How can you argue that? He wasn't a star, but he still had a 114 OPS+ and hit 30+ homers. He didn't get the OBP as high as usual, but I don't think it's fair to say he wasn't very good.

Lee wasn't a star in 2004, but to say he wasn't very good isn't accurate.

I'd still like to know what the hell he was thinking walking Durham in from of Bonds

That's also how we got Sammy from the Rangers when Dubya was owner.

Sosa was acquired from the White Sox, The White Sox acquired him from Texas.
