It's amazing to me that the hottest manager in all of baseball is being criticized by anyone. Even posters on this board are still upset with him.

At some point, I just step back and realize there's nothing wrong with Lou -- it's the fans and media who have no clue.

The reason it took so long to get rid of Dusty Baker was that the fans had deemed him untouchable after 2003. And in retrospect, it wasn't his brilliant moves that had gotten us there, we had done it in spite of him.

I'm going to be smarter this time. What you do is up to you.

Yeah I just saw that exchange, must have been a replay. What a friggen dork. You can almost see the anger in his eyes. Boy does that idiot just hate the cubs. It's probably tearing him up inside that they are winning.

It depends on what you call 'smarter.' If you mean you are going to look for major issues where the manager is burning out All-Star arms and playing junk players for years when everyone on the planet knows they shouldn't be starting -- or similar big time mistakes, then yeah I'm with you.

On the other hand, if you think nitpicking every tactical move Lou makes in every game is being smarter, then I respectfully disagree.

Skip Bayless is a moron who I hope bad things happen to him.

Also, Dan Le Betard just started yelling at Mike Wilbon on PTI that one run wins even out in the season, and that will happen with the Cubs because they've been winning a lot of one run games.

Wait a minute, I thought the Cubs record in one run games is STILL under .500. But hey, don't let facts get in your way ESPN!

Sorry to bring up le Betard, back to original point.

he's still bitter that he got run out of chicago 15 years ago and had to go write his dreck for the San Jose Picayune

what's the story with that? i always hear he was "run out of chicago," but i've never known why. (besides the fact that he's a terrible reporter.)

Actually, I take le Batard's baseball knowledge more than Wilbon's. I don't know many of the stats he knows but he's clearly not in the completely old school mentality. A couple Wilbon quotes from the other day:

"I don't care about OPS! That sounds like -- what is that, OPS is a rap title?"

"Long before anyone discovered on base plus slugging, people talked about runs scored, batting average, and hits in a season!"

I don't understand how Bayless even has a job.... Dude is a major douche..

QFT... what I dont understand is how ESPN found a bigger idiot than the woman that has been on there with him the past couple days. She made him actually look briefly intelligent.
