I decided to go onto MLB.com and fiend some video clips and player stats...you know...fun stuff.

So I ended up on Vlad's page, and looked at yet another MVP type season the guy was having.

He's hitting .326/.414/.545 this year.

He's a career .325/.391/.581 hitter, and one of the best hitters of his generation year in and year out.

He's 42nd all time with a .325 career BA, and 93rd all time in career OBP. He also is JUST outisde the top 10 in SLG (11th).

Of course people will like the MVP award, the WS ring, and the 352 and counting HRs.

Discuss.

I think he's a HOFer.

But when did he win the WS Ring? He wasn't with the Angels in 2002.

You're right, oops.

Anyway, this is going to be one interesting ballot. I guarantee alot of talk of "he was great, but he didn't win anything...did he have a big impact?" talk.

This is how I look at Vlad..he's been playing 12 years...and the worst season he's had in which he played more than 10 games is:

.302/.350/.483

And it's not even close either. His lowest BA after that is .307, and his lowest SLG is .552.

This generation's most underrated player?

Vlad is most likely going to be a HOFer as long as he doesn't up and retire within the next year or two.

Looking at his stats on B.R. I was shocked to see that his high strikeout total for a year is 95. For such a free swinger I figured he would have over 100 strikeouts in a season at least a couple times.

If he gets 3-4 more years of padding stats at his current level, or just slightly below, there's no way he shouldn't get in.

Vlad's career line is 325/391/581.

He has six seasons with an OPS+ above 150 and his career OPS+ is 148.

He already has 342 HR and he's only 31 years old. He'll easily top 400 and likely retires with 500+ HR. He's been an 8-time All-Star, won an MVP and ranked top ten in MVP voting five other times. His most similar by age has been Willie Mays consistently throughout his career.

Yes, he's a HOF.

Some people argue for the enshrinement of Andre Dawson.

I always liked and respected Andre, but Vlad is far better.

Surefire Hall of Famer.

good thing we didn't sign this bum in the offseason of 2003-04... those back injuries have really slowed him down, and he's come nowhere close to earning that $14M per year contract.

I remember hearing a while back that Cashman of the Yankees was all set to sign Vlad as a FA, then Steinbrenner, on his own, went out and signed Sheffield. Good one George.

You can thank Andy MacPhail for that. I believe Hendry wanted Vlad, but wasn't given the $$$$
