Bonds wasn't very happy after today's game/series with the Dodgers.

"It's an embarrassment for me to be wearing this (bleeping) uniform, the way I'm performing," he said after angrily telling television crews to turn off their cameras.

Reporters standing at his locker lingered for one more question.

So Bonds cursed Bonds.

"I said it's an embarrassment for me to wear this (bleeping uniform), the way I'm playing," he repeated.

Not nearly as embarrassing as it is for baseball to have him as its star player.

It's not like he's blaming the team or the game. He's blaming himself for a good reason. Lately he's been pretty bad with runners on. I wish Cesar Izturis said that on our team!

This is a series the Cubs should absolutely take three out of four in, and one they really need to do so in. Arizona is going to be tough just to take two from, so it would be nice to get to at least five games over before that series. I think we'll take three of four, but I think that one we don't take will be tomorrow. Hope I'm wrong. Don't suck Cubs!

I was looking at BP's adjusted standings, and Arizona has been the luckiest team in baseball this year. They have something like a -30 run differential, and are several games over .500, good for 7 or 8 wins on pure luck.

Plus, the D'Backs have had the third easiest strength of schedule in MLB so far this season and they are only 5 games over .500 as a result. If they had been playing a more challenging schedule they wouldn't be in the thick of the NLW race.

Heck, the Cubs shouldn't be in fear of them. They have one more loss and are only one more game over .500 than the Cubs. AZ managed to take 2 of 3 from a slumping Padres team today but, the D'Backs lost 3 of 4 to a bad Cards team and got swept in Cincinnati last week.

Bring 'em on.

Having said all that, I'm hoping they can pull a rabbit out of their hat while they play the Brewers the next 4 games. ;)

"It's an embarrassment for me to be wearing this (bleeping) uniform, the way I'm performing," he said after angrily telling television crews to turn off their cameras.

Now, get away."

Reporters standing at his locker lingered for one more question.

So Bonds cursed Bonds.

"I said it's an embarrassment for me to wear this (bleeping uniform), the way I'm playing," he repeated.

He waved his arm at the throng.

"Now, get out of here."

The reporters dispersed, and good thing. Anybody in Bonds way might have suffered the same fate as the laundry cart that blocked his way to the trainer's room. He knocked it over, its wheels spinning in the musty air.

Not nearly as embarrassing as it is for baseball to have him as its star player.

It's not like he's blaming the team or the game. He's blaming himself for a good reason. Lately he's been pretty bad with runners on. I wish Cesar Izturis said that on our team!

There was no implication in the post.

If it were me, I'd be on eBay right now trying to trade, buy, sell, upgrade, whatever to get there on Tues instead !!

Nah it's not what you posted, I just don't see how it's an embarrasment for baseball.

CT, you're posts look very strange without the blue font. Why did you drop it?

That may be true, but this board collectively overrates young players and three true outcome players and underrates old players. So a team like Arizona is treated as a power (despite their -30 run differential) while a team like the Dodgers (with its' sabrmetrically disinclined GM) is treated as a fluky nuisance.

This Little League team just keeps on winning so I'm covering another game tomorrow at 7 PM. I'll be able to watch the first hour and a half or so before leaving.

This game should be on ESPN even for near-Chicagoans - there was a Monday Marlins game last year that was on WCIU/ESPN and it aired in my area.

If you're sitting in the outfield, be sure to take your glove.

Only if you want to piss off UK/Ping.

Ahh, the good old days in Rants.

Yep. That was the game where Z broke the bat over his knee.

ESPN has basically made Monday night baseball like Sunday night baseball where it won't be blacked out anywhere. The only difference is, other networks have rights to show the game.

That would be Thurs, yes? We are going Tues and Weds, which I guess would be Z and Lilly.

At least you'll be there to see a possible sweep. 8-)
