I was trying to see the justification of bringing in Eyre, but there is none. I think that two games total in July isn't a large enough test sample.

It's the 5th inning...he was either going to bring in Gallagher or Eyre. You can argue for Gallagher but no one else in the pen.

 

I can argue that Eyre shouldn't even be on this team. He's terrible.

He didn't completely suck. Based on my expectations for Scott this appearance was a rousing success as long as Marmol gets us out of the inning. :lol:

Marmol here isn't too bad. Marmol will also pitch the sixth through the 2-4 hitters. If we can get through those with the lead, we have a good shot of winning.

I think the Cubs go to 12 pitchers after today's game, so Piniella can get a little mileage out of Marmol and rest him for a few knowing he will have another arm in the pen.

I'm more mad b/c Eyre sucks...I do NOT disagree w/ the decision to use Marmol, just wish Marquis/Eyre would've done their jobs so as to not necessitate the use of Marmol before the 7th...
