Officially released and put on waivers by Anaheim.

Sports a career .297/.335/.457 against Left-handed pitching.

Only problem is, he has only played 1B or 3B during his career. That doesn't leave many options with the Cubs. He was also apparently upset about playing time with Anaheim, so the Cubs probably wouldn't be an attractive option to him. But hey, he could help against LH pitching!

Too bad he can't catch...

I believe the whole reason his is on the move is that he wants to start. I think adding him for the bench is more or less impossible.

Numbers wise, I think he'd be a help (although not a tremendous one), but his ego driven insistence that he's a starter makes me believe it's not worth it.

Remind you of anyone we know?

Shea's supposedly a Todd Walker-esque clubhouse cancer. Already have Izturis and Jones complaining about PT - don't need another whiner.

I'm in agreement. Yesterday was just a slow day and I was looking for things to talk about.

Couldn't agree more. Hendry just traded an apparant clubhouse cancer in Barrett. I doubt he'd be interested in adding a more publicized one in Hillenbrand.
