HEY GUYS I HAVE A GREAT IDEA. LETS LET OUR TWO TERRIBLE HITTING CATCHERS BAT BACK TO BACK IN THE 9TH INNING WITH RUNNERS ON!

Marte in (3rd) to pitch, Phelps in (9th) at 1b for Pittsburgh

Theriot singled to center field

Theriot took second base on defensive indifferrence

Bowen grounded out to short, 6-3 , Theriot holding second

K Hill, pinch hitting for Wuertz, lined out to shortstop , Theriot doubled off second

Lou won't pinch-hit Ward or Floyd against a left-hander unless he absolutely has to. Remember the same thing happened when he pinch-hit Hill against Colorado (Fuentes) and left Ward on the bench.

So I know the Cubs have still been enjoying the best record since the third of June, but I'm still firmly in the "I don't believe" camp.

 

Starting pitching has been inconsistent from everyone except the guy who was our worst pitcher for the first two months, and this offense is not going to be anywhere near enough as is to make up for the pitching being so shaky. Everyone says if we just trade for ss/impact bat/corner OF/SP, we're on our way, but easy schedule or not, there are too many holes to keep this team from being consistent right now, and until the day that at least one impact player is signed to fill one, I don't see this season ending well.

i know the cubs are playin well this past month, but today's game kinda angered me a lot....Lilly you need to be the good Lilly today cuz i got faith in carlos being carlos sunday
