I know Matt Chico fairly well from my days working for the South Bend Silverhawks (Diamondbacks Low Class A team).

 

Matt was a fairly promising prospect for them a couple years ago. He was a 3rd or 4th round pick, I believe, who excelled rather quickly through their system. From the looks of that picture it seems he has put on a lot of weight. His numbers are definitely not what they should be if he still has the stuff he used to have.

Actually, for once, I won't. I have to cover a Davis Little League All-Star game at 11:30. I probably won't get up for the beginning of the Cubs game, (although I might just for the hell of it) but I will be able to watch some of it before heading to the Little League game.

 

EDIT: I had to work anyway but my editor gave me the option of covering either the baseball game or a bike race. That wasn't a hard decision.

Pie will get back in there soon. With the left-hander today, it was pretty obvious that this would not be the day that Lou inserts him back into the lineup.

 

Lou has also hinted that Jones will get a start sometime soon-he's working with Jones on shortening his swing and he still believes Jones can help the club.

 

I'm sure Izturis will get a start eventually if DeRosa doesn't play SS, but he seems the least likely to be in Lou's plans right now.

I think Lou wanted him in more RBI situations since he had been slugging well. However, in my opinion he's a better option than Theriot in the 2 hole.
