He just hasn't been able to develop an out pitch and it's cost him. Good command, just nothing to put hitters away. He can't keep the ball down w/little movement on all of his pitches.

I was talking to a former Cub about Reyes recently and he mentioned, (for Reyes) it's better going 0-10 at the majors rather than 10-0 at AAA.

it was getting so bad, I was hoping for more losses just to see it happen to the cards and larussa

One of my friends raves about how he is going to be a star at this level...I tell him he's gotta be able to win a game before he can do that! Without that needed outpitch pinghitter was talking about, he won't be able to compete at this level.

Not to pretend like I know anything, but his mechanics seemed completely different to me than in the past.

I remember when he first came up, watching him and thinking how he looked exactly like Mark Prior. Now it seems like he "bobs" (for lack of a better word) up and down during each pitch.

He is just unable to throw a 2-seamer, which has been shoved down his throat. IMO, if they would just let him pitch to his strengths, he could easily be a #2-3. As a cardinal fan, it is maddening. TLR and DD let Wainright pitch his game, and are seriously trying to force a new style on Reyes, who in my opinion, has much more of an upside.

I agree with IMB. He looks like a different pitcher altogether. His fastball has next to no movement. Typically pitchers with zero movement on their fastball don't ever get a top prospect label.

Didn't Mark Prior call that Reyes would win a Cy Young at some point in his career?

You could say that this is a learning experience for Reyes and that he will come back next year a different pitcher.

the Cards are such a wishy washy organization. why don't they make up their mind and go forward with the plan. all they are doing is killing Reyes' value.

I'm hoping the Cards think Reyes needs a change of scenery and dump him for pennies on the dollar.

They're not the Cubs.
