I have heard two different accounts.

I don't see Ortiz or Ramirez or A-Rod or Pujols or Bonds or anybody else get plunked because of admiring home runs. I've seen highlights of the four of them (and any manner of others) absolutely preening after home run swings, no better than Soriano. I don't know why it only seems to piss opponents off when our players do it.

Peavy didn't get suspended though because he was trying to get DLee off of a Padres player. You can see it clearly in that picture... he's about 15' in front of him. I think DLee had him in a jedi mind trick choke! Good thing Peavy intervened!

because all of baseball, including the Cubs, know the umpires and league will disproportionately penalize and discipline Cubs players and coaches setting up a situation where the opposition knows they will not be justly punished for their actions and the Cubs can't respond less they are willing to accept unjust discipline?

That wouldn't surprise me at all with Young. All the Padres would need is an offday so the guy they move up in the rotation would still get his usual 5 days off. I figured something like that would happen all along.
